PM crashes on large-ish select-all

I can reliably kill PM by going to this ArXiv page, bumping the entries per page up to 1000 entries per page (upper left under Authors and Titles) and doing a select-all (either via right-click or ctrl-a)

PcLinuxOS, PM ver 28.8.1 (the most recent in the pclinuxos repositories), Safe Mode or not. This has been happening since at least summer 2019 and whatever version was current then. I only need to do this every 3 months so it may have been going on for longer and I've just forgotten.

Can't reproduce on Windows; any other Linux people on different distros who can check?
Also, please include troubleshooting information when asking for support.

Following your instructions of 1000 per page and Select All, my linux Pale Moon is not crashing.

At this time of posting, I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.8.2 running in 64 bit linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Xfce. The only extensions I'm using are NoSquint and uBlock Origin. The site sees my user agent mode as Firefox Compatibility.

When run from the command line the following output occurs after the crash:

It's from the actual browser code - will be easier for devs to troubleshoot with this.

Well you're obviously not running the latest version because Travis built that build not me. So maybe update to the latest version before EVER EVER EVER EVER posting something about anything again.

You can add stevepusser's repository for Ubuntu from here and have it update by itself with the rest of your packages.

Mint 19.x corresponds to Ubuntu 18.04.

Just want to say that on my end it doesn't crash. I can even scroll the page with no lag.
In the worst case it might even be a problem with the X server, though it's hard to say.
You should update both the browser and Xorg.

Looks like it's something in your Xorg or embedded Intel graphics driver that can't handle the paint updates for selecting that amount of data. Certainly doesn't seem to be in our code if the window becomes invalid by selecting. AFAICT this happens: select -> paint update storm -> driver chokes and makes the X window for the browser invalid -> Pale Moon crashes because it no longer has a UI window.

My linux Pale Moon is not installed in my Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Xfce. I "prefer" to run my linux Pale Moon from it's executable file. Which means after I download the Pale Moon tarball to my Desktop, I extract the PM folder to the Desktop. Then I drag the extracted PM folder to where I want it in the Thunar File Manager.

By doing it this way, there is no Pale Moon browser listed under Internet in the Mint menu since my PM is not installed and this doesn't bother me. But I do have to create the PM launcher icon and place the launcher icon on my Panel which I don't mind doing because I prefer to run and use my linux Pale Moon this way. And I can even create a custom PM launcher icon if need be, which I have and can be seen in my most recent "What my Pale Moon looks like" topic and it is to the left of the Firefox launcher icon. And I've been doing it this way since January of 2014 when linux Pale Moon was officially released for linux.

With my preference, I don't have to mess with the linux terminal, which I'm not a fan of, to install or uninstall Pale Moon. If I ever have problems, I just delete the extracted Pale Moon folder using the gui windows in Thunar from where it's at and start over. But I've never had to start over doing it this way. As they say, "This is not my first rodeo with linux Pale Moon.

I forgot to add this but I use the linux generic driver, "noveau" for my graphics in linux Mint. When I had an Nvidia graphics card, sometimes the Nvidia driver would cause problems in my Mint Xfce.

Since I've been using the linux noveau generic graphics driver, I have never had any graphics problems. I can even watch YouTube videos in 1440p60 HD without any problems and this setting can be seen in the Settings for this YT video below.

And this desktop tower I'm using to type this message with is almost 10 years old since I bought it in May of 2010. Of course, it also has 16 GB of memory in it and I've got a fast Comcast (my ISP) internet connection (Download: 318.87 Mbps & Upload: 11.90 Mbps) which is a big help.

I can't reproduce, initial load is laggy, select all didn't crash.
- archlinux 5.4.15

No crash on Xubuntu 18.04 x32, i5 7500, 4GB, PM 28.8.2 - 1000 and 2000 selected, CPU goes a bit up
Instant crash on TahrPup 6.0.5 x64, USB, i5 7500, 4 GB, PM 28.8.2 when 1000 selected

Interesting. So there's a distro issue here, then. I'm assuming these PcLinuxOS and Tahrpup versions aren't our mainline binaries but built from source?
Can you please post the output of about:buildconfig of the PclinuxOS, Tahrpup and Xubuntu versions, so we can compare notes and see if we can find out what the problem is?
Also, what theme engine is in use on the crashing systems and (if possible) if you select another one, does that help?
