Unstable update isn't an update

Yesterday I had a notification to update. So I did. Today I had another one. This was unusual, perhaps I made some mistake updating I thought, so I cp -a the palemoon dir to a temporary one, and git diff it after unpacking the new one and no diff!
$ sha256sum 2019-06-20-palemoon-unstable-latest.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
e3aaaff680065759a4ee1fcb8cb9740f8e9bbe332465373765a60dbd1b1cbd20 2019-06-20-palemoon-unstable-latest.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
$ sha256sum 2019-06-30-palemoon-unstable-latest.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
e3aaaff680065759a4ee1fcb8cb9740f8e9bbe332465373765a60dbd1b1cbd20 2019-06-30-palemoon-unstable-latest.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
So either the update notification is wrong or the updated binary and sha256sum hasn't been put on the website yet.

I can't reproduce. I double checked and the most recent unstable build is on the website and and the updater seems to be working fine.

I kept getting the update notifications daily, so ignored them, but looking today I see there is an update:
05200cd3b0140396329c2afe86f4c8f3b8bdae3ec7cbae7277ef0435b412b162
so I've just updated to that. Perhaps it will be OK now, I will see.
In Advanced - Updates I have "Check for updates but let me choose to install them" selected, so I get a notification appear that says Updates available, you lack the permission to update, and then download and unpack manually.
