Tarball installation: clean or overwrite?

Hello,

I have a question that's not addressed by palemoon.org.

If I extract from a tarball, do I need to delete the existing files or can I simply expand the tarball into the existing, populated directory?

Replace don't overwrite.

Thanks, Matt. That detail would be a nice addition to the installation instructions, eh? I lost a couple of days struggling with figuring out why VHDs (i.e., VirtualBox virtual hard disks) that used to work, didn't work after I updated. ...just a suggestion.
