PM on LinuxMint 19.1 requires libc6 >= 2.28!?!?!?!?

Unread post by Enkidu » 2019-01-14, 20:35

Hi,

I am using Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon (based on Ubuntu 18.10) and tried to install PM via Steve Pusser's repo (https://software.opensuse.org/download. ... e=palemoon) but it fails because of

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get install palemoon
...
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 palemoon : Depends: libc6 (>= 2.28) but 2.27-3ubuntu1 is to be installed
On my old 18.3 PM works fine with a much older libc6!?
In addition to that libc6 2.28 is quite new and I do not think it is a good idea to use latest libc6 from a ppa.

How can I install PM on LM 19.1?

Tnx in advance,
Enkidu

Are you using his 18.10 repo or his 18.04 repo? My understanding is that Linux Mint 19.1 is based on 18.04, not 18.10.
