Video stops playing when switching to another tab
I've only encountered this on foxsports.com. When I'm playing a video there and switch to a different tab, the video pauses. I'd like it to keep playing so I can listen and browse other things at the same time. Youtube videos don't do this. Is there anything I can do to make videos on this site keep playing?

Re: Video stops playing when switching to another tab
After clicking on your link, I can confirm this happens to me as well. As soon as I open a new tab, the video stops playing. I don't know why this happens either.
I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.1.0 running in 64 bit linux Mint 19 (Tara) Xfce.

This is most likely by design on the website.
You can probably work around it by opening the video playing page in a separate window.

Opening up a window does work.Moonchild wrote:You can probably work around it by opening the video playing page in a separate window.

I've found a few sites that do this. Yes, it seems to be by design. And yes, it's very annoying.

And other users find it even more annoying when websites do NOT do this and ending up with videos playing in background tabs that they don't want playing. Or worse, have multiple videos play at once.Isengrim wrote:I've found a few sites that do this. Yes, it seems to be by design. And yes, it's very annoying.

Off-topic:
The worst are sites with responsive designs that when you scroll down the video comes out of content and goes into a little box in the corner sometimes even starting to play ahain even to I stopped it.
Todays modern web design just plain sucks, i guess.

I can live with this workaround. So I guess there isn't a setting somewhere that can change this?Moonchild wrote:

No, it is how the website is designed. A browser can only do what it is instructed to do by content. A setting in the browser can only go so far in providing control over web content.helloimustbegoing wrote:So I guess there isn't a setting somewhere that can change this?
