Flash! Killer of every one of us

For reasons beyond my control in my household flash is still needed
(farcebook), so I gave in and installed the damned plugin, of course Palemoon does not see it. I know I am missing something, I checked the faqs, but still no luck. Running 27.7.1.
Fsck my life, I cannot wait until 2020 already.

Which os?
i use linux and Pale Moon finds flash no problems.

Flash is a superb tool for building cross-platform apps. It has a bad reputation due to user mis-use and less-than-stellar support from Adobe.

Slackware distro, I simply downloaded the slackbuilds and built the package -

I see what you did there
- in all seriousness though, Flash is outdated, and even at this point Java is better (though there are plenty of security holes in Java too). HTML5 is superior.

Agreed Flash on the web is dead - HTML5 superior? unsure about that. We'll see.
Regardless of Flash on the web, Flash is still a good tool in itself, when used properly. Want to see a good Flash desktop app?
Play World of Tanks <- that's not an advert, WoT's client is entirely Flash based.

Play World of Tanks <- that's not an advert, WoT's client is entirely Flash based.
WoT or any other of those games advertized on tv, are not on flash when played on a mobile platform. As for farcebook, the games could probably be ported to java at least , I still hate java, but I hate flash a lot more. I prefer HTML5 for embedded media , youtube HTML5 player is way better and much less resource hungry vs flash - even the admins/devs at farcebook made their opinions known about flash and it wasn't flattering. It was useful back in the day before broadband I will give flash that, but honestly it is pointless these days. If sites like WoT want to rely on flash thats their problem, what they will do when flash is officially (finally) killed in 2020

It is likely they(Adobe) will not open source it(flash) anyways, probably due to proprietary code based on EME (encrypted media extensions - another big mistake that Mozilla jumped on) yes that would actually improve flash , but not by much. It is too bloated and resource hungry, it just needs to go away finally.

I am still open to any other suggestions on getting PM to detect it though. I'll just grit my teeth for 2 more years when it comes to Flash.

I just installed the flashplayer-installer from my repositrie and flash is found by palemoon.

Still beats majority of Distros out there that have drank the SystemD kool-aid. I suppose I could go to Devuan. For me Flash is not necessary , and I can live without it, too bad others in my household can't.

Looks like it's putting libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins. Try putting it in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins (that's where mine is, in Arch, and it works fine).
And no systemd here...

Why are you doing it the difficult way.
Have you looked in the software repositry for the flash player installer at all.It seems a right carry on the way your doing it .

Sounds just like Arch, LOL. Several years ago, back in 2010, I had to play mirrorlist musical chairs, because a mirror was randomly missing files. One mirror has a file that another mirror don't have and vice-versa! IIRC.

i had a problem like you with linux mint. So i downloaded some deb file kind of from flash site unpack files kinde of SO extension and had placed it manually, finally pm had detected flash. Although i am not sure that SO file appropriate for all linux versions.

In Mint 19 (Tara), I use the proprietary installer for linux Flash which is at this time, (30.0.0.154). This installer is located in the Mint repositories as "flashplugin-installer" since Mint has it's own open source version of Flash (from Ubuntu) and their version is installed by default. When I install the proprietary version via Synaptic Package Manager, it removes the default which comes with Mint.

Hah, that's why I'm not using Palemoon. The developer doesn't appreciate the Slackware user and simply derides the distro instead of helping a user asking a simple question. The real help came from another Slackware user not the developer, who should know where PM is looking for the flash. Oh BTW, /lib is not the proper place for 64 bit libraries, so why is Palemoon still using it for the 64 bit distro? Ba-Bye PM
