27.7.2 source not found

Unread post by Unix Ronin » 2018-01-29, 16:39

I maintain an unofficial Gentoo ebuild for www-client/palemoon. I'm unable to update it from 27.7.1 to 27.7.2 because palemoon-27.7.2-source.7z is not found. All versions up to 27.7.1 are present at ftp://archive.palemoon.org/, but palemoon-27.7.2-source.7z does not apperar to have been posted there.

Is this an oversight, or is 27.7.2 a Windows-only update?

There is no 27.7.2 yet. 27.7.1 is currently the latest version on all platforms.

I'd swear I had 27.7.2 on my Windows box ... but no, it says 27.7.1 when I look now.

Could there have been a typo in the release notes that got fixed later?

Either way, that certainly explains why there is no 27.7.2 source. :)

No, there wasn't any typo in the release notes at any point in time.

Then I have no idea where I got the 27.7.2 from. Maybe I was just overtired and misread.

Maybe you were gazing into the future because 27.7.2 is slated to be released very soon ;)

@OP You probably use some script that watch github, there 27.7.2 us bumped 2 days ago... that of course does not mean official release happened yet.

The Gentoo equivalant to "Pale Moon Unstable" would be www-client/palemoon-9999 getting directly from master with something like...

Code: Select all

git clone -b master --depth 1 https://github.com/MoonchildProductions/Pale-Moon.git
The "--depth 1" says to only pull down enough to do a build. This decreases the amount downloaded. But since you don't have history, it's probably not suitable for developers pushing commits.
