Latest update broke Palemoon on Mint x64 17.3

Unread post by vocatus » 2017-09-06, 11:51

Hi there,

Updated (using the update script) to 27.4.2 x64 on Mint 17.3 x64 and it broke Palemoon. The icon in the launcher tray turned into a big red circle with a cross through it, and it no longer launches.

Any way to recover it?

You might want to post your inquiry in the linux Mint forums. I don't know of anyone on the Pale Moon forums site which is using linux Pale Moon 27.4.2 running in linux Mint (17.3).

This won't help you, but I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 27.4.2 running in 64 bit linux Mint 18.2 and it runs great on all of my four computers. The only exception is I can't get the new YouTube "Dark Mode" design. However the videos and buttons all work when playing YT videos.

My oldest computer was built in 2010 and the newest of my four computers was built in 2013.

This is probably a good idea.

I have Pale Moon installed in my Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 32-bit virtual box, it was updated recently to 27.4.2 without any such issues.

I am running Palemoon 27.4.2 on Linux Mint KDE 17.3 64-bit without any problems. Quite awhile ago I had a problem with the oxygen-GTK2 interface, but when I changed that it has been smooth sailing ever since.

Add me to the list. Pale Moon 27.4.2 on three Linux Mint KDE 17.3 boxes here, working just fine.

27.4.2 works fine on my wife's Mint box as well. Try using the pminstaller script to uninstall Pale Moon (don't worry, your profile with all your bookmarks and other data won't be touched), and then try installing again.

Just wanted to post the solution, uninstalling and re-installing Palemoon using the official install script worked great. Thanks everyone who chimed in!
