youtube livestream chat buffer
I am at a loss with Pale Moon when it comes to chats during a youtube livestream. After a few minutes the chat just stops updating , so I have to reload the page constantly. This happens on both compiled versions of 24.7.1 and packaged versions for my distro (Slackware Linux). This issue has actually followed me when I first used version 24.4 both packaged and compiled by source. Other browsers I try does not have this issue and I have tried Pale Moon without any addons such as no script, but I still notice the same behavior, and after a few minutes the chat stops. I can still type and send messages but unless I reload the frame or the entire page there is nothing new from other users.
That is the best way I can describe this issue, and I poked around all settings I can think of, cookies cache etc, still no improvement. Anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I like Pale Moon for it's lightweight and everything else works just fine.

I experienced it too on my Windows Pale Moon 27.4.1 (x64). I don't know any fix.
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Well at least then I know I am not the only one. Hopefully if more users come with this issue - the devs might be able to look into it then.

Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Do you experience this issue only with the chat? No any problems with playing video itself?
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Just the chat. I tried even the pop out feature to see if that would make a difference, and it still stops updating after a few minutes and I still have to reload that page. The video works just fine. Also in another thread I was having trouble with audio sounding very slow on twitter, it was suggested I disable MSE , but then that would prevent me from actually watching livestreams on youtube. So I had to re-enable MSE.Alexium 67 wrote:Do you experience this issue only with the chat? No any problems with playing video itself?

Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Could you please try with the latest unstable build? I watched a live stream last night for 4 or 5 hours and could not reproduce with the latest unstable build. The chat updated as it should have throughout the stream and the streamers even reacted to questions/comments I posted so everything appeared to be working.

Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
I'll test unstable build this Friday when my favorite streamer will online.
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
I just downloaded the unstable binary. Version still displays as 24.7.1 , I thought it would say something about it being 'unstable' but whatever. The streamer happens to be online right now, so I will report what happens.
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Ok, well it didn't take long this time. I even took a screenshot , and yes before anyone asks, I also made sure to clear the cache before running the unstable build.
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Oddly enough this time just popping out the chat, allowed the chat to update. I am really at a loss. Also as a side note, it seems to me that both stable and unstable binaries tend to peak cpu usage a lot more, than say Firefox.
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
It doesn't matter what I do, it still has stopped updating again. To recap, I did clear out all cache and deleted history, just to be sure, and I am running the unstable 64 bit binary...

Also before anyone indicates from the screenshot - yes the chat is on slowmode, HOWEVER considering the number of people viewing, it wouldn't take very long maybe 1sec at most to update. Slow mode just prevents a user from typing again after sending a message, but should not affect the chat buffer itself. It does happen on any livestream with or without the streamer using slow mode.

Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
The latest Linux unstable version is 27.5.0a1 (64-bit) (2017-08-13). If it displayed 27.4.1 then that was not the current unstable build.

Lets try that again - this time I made sure to be running the unstable build, no addons (no script), just Pale Moon with no previous cache/history, but still experiencing it. I want to say it is possible Youtube is doing some changes on it's own causing my problem, but I am still not experiencing this with Firefox (latest stable build), as well as the ESR versions of Firefox for Linux

Unstable build didn't help me too.

Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
May the input focus (when text blinking cursor stay at text field) cause this issue?

Whether I have the blinking cursor or clicking on something else, it makes no difference. The chat still stops updating after a few minutes. This AFAIK is the only issue for me, and is the only thing that is keeping me from outright abandoning bloated Firefox.
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Bumping this thread. It seems my hopes for this issue actually being solved has been dashed. Stable version 27.4.2 x64, issue still occurs with youtube chatbuffer.

This is Pale Moon without any extensions/plugins even installed.

Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
Upgraded to stable 27.5.0 , and of course the issue still occurs
Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
- Is there something (js errors) in Browser Console?
- Are there any places that compile a calendar of these events?

Re: youtube livestream chat buffer
It's me again. 27.5.0. The issue still occurs on my Windows. I found only one thing - I can't reproduce it with some streams from other youtubers (not subscribed). No any valuable errors in console.
