Is there any way to disable locationbar autoselection?

Unread post by Harkonnen » 2017-01-19, 08:34

Palemoon always had a feature (unlike firefox) that when you click location bar with mouse it autoselect location bar context. This was mildly annoying if you have selection/clipboard sync enabled, but nothing critical. But now in 27 it also autoselect the remaining part of default suggestion when you type in location bar, and this is super annoying, because it not only overrides current clipboard, it also fills clipboard history with garbage. Is there any way to disable this?

Thanks for the info, i disabled click to select. Unfortunately that has no effect on "autoselect the remaining part of default suggestion when you type in location bar" :( Knowing now that i have to look at browser.ulrbar i ended up disabling autofill, i can live without it if this gets rid of this "feature". Still the prior to 27 behavior was much better :(

I think I know what's going on here.
I assume you're talking about the X primary buffer here and not the actual clipboard.

The new behavior is in fact more according to spec (and the URL bar is in essence an HTML input element) but should probably not dispatch the normal event in the case of the URL bar auto-completing, because these selections aren't made by the user.
This can probably be fixed in the FE relatively easily.
I've filed an issue on the issue tracker for this: Issue #852.
