Ah, so the next 64-bit unstable build will also be 27.6! That should mean that a stable 27.5 is coming relatively soon (not that it matters to me too much, I exclusively use these unstable builds for my personal use).

Our master is normally 1 version ahead of release. However, when we are getting close to a new major release, a new branch is created from the previous unstable, to prepare for that release, perform acceptance tests, and solve any remaining issues. The master branch will, at that point, get a version bump and effectively be 2 versions ahead of the published release versions, until the new release is published as final.

It seems that the latest build (2017-09-29) has regressed on the YouTube layout... To be honest, I think this is a symptom of a larger issue rather then just an individual issue.

By regressed do you mean restored the older design? If so that was the intended result.

It works perfectly for me. Thanks Trava.

So it's an intentional regression...I hope you realize the terrible precedent this could set if put into a proper release.
Also, you seem to have completely overlooked this option in your YouTube channel menu.

The older Youtube design seems to work fine for me with the 9-29 build. And the performance on Youtube pages is much better.

It's not an "intentional regression", it's restoring a previous setting. The only change made between the 9-28 and 9-29 builds was to the SSUAO for YouTube (restoring it back to what was used in Pale Moon 27.4.2 release), which causes YT (due to their user agent sniffing) to serve us the older site design. This was done because of problems with the new design (see the several new YouTube-related forum threads that have been created since the release of 27.5.0, particularly the one about excessive CPU usage).

Oh god, that's horrendous! I take back my comments about this being a regression!

Alert:

425 Can't open data connection for transfer of "/32bit-unstable-Linux/palemoon-27.6.0a1_171002.linux-i686.tar.bz2"

I get "can't open data connection" for every attempt at connecting to this address, also just "ftp.palemoon.org".

Make sure to use passive mode connections when using an ftp client.

Most linux ftp clients go passive mode if you include the "-p" option, e.g.

ftp -p ftp://contrib:get@ftp.palemoon.org/32bi ... 86.tar.bz2

Other options; you can use wget...

wget ftp://contrib:get@ftp.palemoon.org/32bi ... 86.tar.bz2

or you can browse the directory with a web browser by going to the URL...

ftp://contrib:get@ftp.palemoon.org/32bit-unstable-Linux/

...and right-clicking on the file and selecting download.

I was using Pale Moon as I was always able to access FTP repositories through http with a normal browser.

I was using Pale Moon. I tried several modes - dropping/including the filename itself from the URL, through http and ftp, dropping/including the username/password part.

In the latter case, the site will ask for username/password, but then still will give me the "no connection" message.

Just browsing the directory does not seem possible - I get a message saying "/" was not found, or something to this extent.

What happens when you click (or right-click) on the following URL...

ftp://contrib:get@ftp.palemoon.org/32bit-unstable-Linux/

...I tried this and it does give me the directory listing.

Hm. I may have some egg on my face. I was using Opera when I was writing my latest reply. The old Opera version 12.16, and it is giving me the message something seems to be wrong with the FTP module.

However I was using Pale Moon earlier. As I am not absolutely certain this did happen with Pale Moon, and not only with Opera, I'll have to check again. Using several browsers may get somewhat confusing at times...

I will keep you posted. Thanks for your attention (and sorry for the gaffe)....
