Well, I believe you may be right there. I have run into some issues that are off-topic on this thread but maybe we can discuss it another thread that is more general chat? To upgrade to 16.04, I am going to have to reformat the partition that contains the operating system, and install a new operating system. So not quite a clean install as I am not reformatting the whole disk (I am leaving untouched the partition with /home), but not quite the typical upgrade-in-place, because that is actually not going to work now on this device.

Actually I wouldn't mind discussing this with you somewhere else as I am not looking forward to this.
And what is in the official repo now?
And should I try the unstable versions of PM to see if it will work with MSE enabled?
