I have installed palemoon on mint from steves repository

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... ntu_22.04/ /

currently I have version 32.0.1
an hour ago the update manager was giving an error message about the repository, now it is just saying my system is up to date. Could this be true?

Currently only v32.2.1 is in xUbuntu 22.04 repository. 32.4.0.1 was there, but has been removed.

Today, v32.4.1 arrived in MX-21 repo, so I'm hopeful that Steve will also deliver it for xUbuntu 22.04.

I've also got some Debian users using the Debian builds from the same OBS repo; they all comment about how PM is so snappy on their machines compared to the current Firefox.

Is there a reason that no PM packages are in Debian_Unstable and Debian_Testing?

I'm sure there is a reason, but none of us here are privy to it.

If you fall too far behind I can only suggest you switch over to the mainline Linux binaries.

Will there be non-AVX builds for Debian in future for certain processors if the main packages will switch to AVX?

I'm also interested in non-AVX Linux builds since it's sort of "a thing" to run Linux on not-so-cutting-edge hardware, in my case a Phenom II (motherboard doesn't support AM3+ CPUs, not that Piledriver is much if any of a performance upgrade...) as well as a Pentium G3258 (basically an overclockable 4th gen "Haswell" Core i3 with no hyperthreading...and no AVX).

While I'm here, I might as well ask if there's an easy way to get notifications whenever this "Steve Pusser" build has been updated? It was previously suggested to subscribe to this thread, but this thread is obviously used for more than just posting about updated versions being released.

I also wondered if it'd even be realistic to somehow use Pale Moon's own built-in update notifier? Thing is, that's normally inaccessible by the user in these "Steve Pusser" builds, presumably due to the official Pale Moon builds and the "Steve Pusser" builds not always having aligned release timing (32.4.1 particularly comes to mind—didn't it get completely skipped over in these "Steve Pusser" builds, going straight to from 32.4.0.1 to 32.5.0?).

Create an account on the OpenSUSE Build Service and then add his repos to the watch list, like this one: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show ... emoon-GTK3

Hey, thanks for that! I just set it up so we'll see how it goes.

And that being the GTK3 link reminds me—I wonder if one way to do this AVX thing is to have the GTK2 build remain as SSE2 while making the GTK3 build be AVX? (or vice-versa I suppose—whichever makes the most sense).

...except that i don't actually know whether I'm using the GTK2 or GTK3 version of Pale Moon. :? Don't suppose there's also some easy way to check that?

Open about:config and look for the string --enable-default-toolkit=cairo-gtkX where X denotes the GTK version (2 or 3).

...so what does it mean if I get no results for either? I swear I'm not being a derp and using the Windows version via Wine (which does actually kind of work :P).

(heck, even just gtk2 and gtk3 on their own don't give any results in about:config)

Drugwash got it wrong, it's actually about:buildconfig, about:config is where you can set user preferences. about:buildconfig is something totally different...
"The Athenians, however, represent the unity of these opposites; in them, mind or spirit has emerged from the Theban subjectivity without losing itself in the Spartan objectivity of ethical life. With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

The next release will also display which GTK build you are using in Help -> About Pale Moon:

That's the first place one would look for basic information so yeah it would be very helpful and, I believe, straightforward.
