Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1 UPDATE
In the past versions this worked but since 25.8.1 setting Media.Gstreamer.Enabled : true, crashes my PM even with a brand new profile and in Safe Mode when I go to this web site,
http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html
Can someone verify this using a Linux OS, I'm using SolydX 64 bit and PM 64 bit.
Also, what suggestion does anyone have.
Thanks

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
I cannot replicate your problem with Linux Mint XFCE 17.2 64 bit!
I have PM 25.8.1 installed with the PM installer. I have Media.Gstreamer.Enabled : true
I can have all three playing at once without any problem!

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
I am also unable to replicate with either 25.8.1 or the 26 beta 3 on Manjaro 64 bit.
Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
Unable to replicate on 25.8.1 x86 running on Linux Mint 13.
Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
Unable to replicate on 25.8.1 x86_64 in Fedora 23.
Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
Thanks for the help,
I'm using SolydX Testing and there are updates just about everyday and they are using Libav, but they just recently put back ffmpeg but they do not have gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
So I'm thinking there might be some conflict in between some files.
But I'm sure how that would affect PM.
Edit:
For me this also crashes FF but it does not crash Iceweasel or Chromium.

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
I think this might be a SolydX Testing issue because someone at their forum said they have seen this too,
I left this set to True and it is crashing other sites as well.

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
UPDATE:
The FF 43 update today fixed this error from crashing on SolydX 64 bit FF.
I know PM is not FF but I thought of trying this again in PM, but it still crashes, this time I ran it in a terminal, this was the read out.
Does anyone know what does?
Thanks

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
libXss is related to the X11 Screen Saver, which I believe is not mandatory to have for Pale Moon to run. Perhaps it is the cause? Try uninstalling it.troypulk wrote:UPDATE:

I uninstalled the X11 screen saver but not libXss because other programs needed it.
But I got another error:

This only occurs when media.gstreamer.enabled is set to the value of true, correct? If so then lets just focus on gstreamer related technologies. First let us narrow down what on the page causes the crash. To narrow down the cause try each link separately:troypulk wrote: Thanks,

Notice the file extensions, does Pale Moon crash on any of those direct links, if so which ones? (mp4, webm, ogv?)
Also is there any place I can see how SolydX packages gstreamer-0.10? (Preferably a web UI, or git repository.)

It only crashes for the .mp4
I'm using SolydX 64bit EE which is Debian Testing, they don't use gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, instead they use Libav, so in order to get H.264/mp4 to work I had to get the files from http://deb-multimedia.org/ but gstreamer comes from Debian Testing.
I was using Debian stable and it worked but when I switched to Testing it stopped.
Is this what you're looking for?

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
Hmm, I am not sure what could exactly be the issue. Perhaps you could try to build gstreamer rather that use the packaged version, to see if it really is an issue with the package.troypulk wrote:Correct, it happens when media.gstreamer.enabled is set to true. This only occurs when media.gstreamer.enabled is set to the value of true, correct? Could you give me the log file this command creates. (As you reproduce the crash.)
strace -f -tt palemoon -g 2>&1 | tee ~/strace-<program>.log
It should be located in your home directory. (i.e. cd $HOME)

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1
I'm actually beginning to think that SolydX Debian Testing does not support gstreamer with palemoon because Palemoon is like an old FF, even Iceweasel 38 esr works.
I'll load SolydX Debian stable in VirtualBox and the latest PM and Gstreamer to see if I'm correct.

Re: Media.Gstreamer.Enabled Crashes PM 25.8.1 UPDATE
UPDATE:
My guess was right, Debian Testing files are to new for Palemoon to work when using ffmpeg and gstreamer.
I loaded Debian stable in VirtualBox and added all the right files and Palemoon did not crash when going to the link in this thread.
So if I want to use H.264/MP4 in PM I will have to down grade to Debian Stable.
