Migration tool: Can't set directories?!

Post by kyrrin » 2015-10-13, 03:34

Good day,

I was attempting to swing over from T-Bird to FossaMail this evening. Unfortunately, the migration tool does not seem to allow the specification of custom directories for where to find the Thunderbird profiles and where to move them to.

Is this an oversight in the tool, or did I forget to click something or specify a switch when starting the thing?

Thanks much.

Not necessarily an oversight, just a limitation. The migration tool is created for standard installations with default locations. In other situations you should copy your profile(s) manually.

Ah. So, if I understand correctly, the migration tool is simply a convenient copying device? There's no file format changes to worry about?

Thanks (and sorry about the Email issues earlier).

Exactly. So far as I know the Thunderbird file format has not significantly changed since we forked off from it, so it's a convenient copying tool and the program itself will take care of any minor conversions that would be needed.
