Leave on Server: Until I Delete Them

I have selected "Leave on Server: Until I Delete Them". For some reason such deleted messages still appear on the server. Do I need to change a setting on the server to allow FossaMail to delete on server?

I read it (only) works for POP3, do you use IMAP?

I use POP3 on Sonic.net. I suspect it is an issue with Sonic.net. If I UNcheck "Leave Messages on Server" the individual message is removed from server upon download to FossaMail. There must be something about the Sonic.net setup that prevents removal after the initial download. The rep at Sonic.net was not familiar with such an option for POP3. The email client I might be replacing, Pegasus Mail, only has the option to leave or delete from server upon download; it does not have the sub-options "For at most xx days" or "Until I delete them". I might need to ask Sonic.net support at a higher level.
