Change Order of Accounts on List
Change Order of Accounts on List
Hi - is it possible to change the order of Accounts as they appear in the left hand panel? The first one I created is at the top but the one I most use is at the bottom so it would be much handier to have it on top, especially if I have all the folders visible. They are in the order that they were created, can this be altered? Thanks

Re: Change Order of Accounts on List
Yes, it's possible but you'll have to do the ordering manually.
In Options -> Advanced there is a button to open the Config Editor.
In it, there are 2 preferences:
mail.accountmanager.accounts, which holds the order in which the accounts are listed in your folder pane, and
mail.accountmanager.defaultaccount, which holds the default account used for the client as a whole.
You can sort the accounts any way you want, but the default account is always on top, so you have to set defaultaccount to whichever you want on top.

I used version 1.1 of the Manually Sort Folders addon for Thunderbird: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/manually-sort-folders/versions/?page=1#version-1.1
In case that's easier for you.

Moonchild,
Thank you for your reply.
I am running FossaMail 25.2.3 (x86) and under Tools there is nothing for Options. Any further help much appreciated!

If you're on Linux, it is located at Edit > Preferences.

Ostrodamus,
Thank you for that, yes, I am on Linux.
Still stuck though - after Edit/Preferences where next?

Re: Change Order of Accounts on List
Maybe some pictures will help. (these are from Windows, but Linux will look the same).
Go to category "Advanced" then click the button "Config editor" Then, in the filter box, type "accountmanager" to get the relevant prefs. And go from there

Re: Change Order of Accounts on List
I've been wondering: Why is this? It seems like an arbitrary requirement. Especially when I have an arbitrary whim - er need, yeah needbut the default account is always on top, so you have to set defaultaccount to whichever you want on top.

Re: Change Order of Accounts on List
It's been a Mozilla/Thunderbird design decision; reasons behind it I'm not privy to without research. I'm sure there's some valid reason for this requirement.
