Its even possible. Switching to html5, seems to load the vids more quick and it doesnt hang up sometimes when i want to play a vid.
Also, html5 is only displaying 720p as max resolution. Why ? Can i change that ?
using palemoon 32-bit.

The only way to watch over 720p video, officially, is to get the MSE format support in Palemoon.
The other method is to install ViewTube, note that you need Greasemonkey or similar add-on.

CalinTM wrote:Also, html5 is only displaying 720p as max resolution. Why ?
Because Google restricts "premium" resolutions to MSE-only stream delivery (their service choice)
Can i change that ?
No, it's entirely Google's decision. You can possibly work around it (as others have indicated) but the plain fact remains that YouTube won't offer 480p or full HD videos in normal container formats anymore.

ViewTube works fine here with DASH 1080p, make sure you have the correct settings (first one on the left is a bit tricky) and that no other extensions/scripts interfere with it (like YouTubeCenter).

And how to get MSE format support in Palemoon ?

I am guessing port the code from Firefox to Pale Moon. Make sure said code is stable....then present it to Moonchild?
also if even possible just make it a extension to make it optional for people. So those who are against it do not have to have it i the browser.
If I am wrong on this please someone tell me.

Conclusion that I came upon during most of this.
Do we need MSE?
Yes, we need MSE to see higher resolutions while using HTML5.(Any other solution involves not having annotations, which are required when a video uploader makes a mistake and notes it in an annotation. Or when some channels/videos are presented/affiliated/advertised to the user that need to be clicked, during a video, which is more convenient.) I am also excluding other tools that are useful to the user, not that I know anyone that uses these tools (Speed up the video, View Transcript, etc.), so I didn't want to mention them.
No, most of the users I know merely use 360p resolution, default resolution and default layout.

I personally have been using YouTube Flash Video Player since the beginning of the forced HTML5 push, allowing me to switch between Flash and HTML5 (HTML5 being pointless for all the reasons noted before), to which using Flash provides video from 144p up to 4K, with all the intermediary steps available as well.
Regarding annotations and every other stock Youtube feature, they're still present and can be tweaked with any of the several Youtube tweaking addons available.

Yes, I went back to Flash but I usually download my videos, so I don't need to be in Flash.
Reason for going back to Flash is because the embedded videos, only play in Flash Mode.
Magic Actions for YouTube does a great job stopping the video from playing in YouTube, but it doesn't force HTML5 on embedded videos. I hate when the embedded videos start playing automatically, and not play at the resolution I default, either.
Flash ends up eating my RAM, and from trying to help Comcast user, some videos required Flash 17 to play. (13 does a great job but it still ends-up being a memory hog)

Agreed on embedded video autoplay being quite annoying.
Flash is the ever increasing memory hog, and HTML5 isn't really being spread as it should so I still feel Flash is a necessary evil.
Out of curiosity but what are you using to download videos these days? Especially 1080p+.

I download with Download Video Helper, it only goes max 720p.
I'm not worried about the quality, since my video player is set to enlarge the image to 2540X1440p and compress it to my native resolution(1080p).
If I wanted anything above 720p, I would use Clipconverter.cc, nice site. (They also offer an add-on)
Edit: Downloadhelper. XD

I've used DownloadHelper for many years now, and while I still use it for general content, it saddened me that it could no longer download Youtube content beyond 720p.
Clipconverter.cc does seem to work, at least the site's download functionality but I actively avoid using such, just as dedicated software for the task as I much prefer to have the download capability integrated with the browser. Haven't tested the addon yet, though.
And you got me intrigued, which video player are you using to resample video?
EDIT: Apparently the addon redirects to the site with the video link inserted automatically. It's not ideal but it will do for the time being. Still, if you do happen to stumble upon an addon that integrates straight with Youtube and allows for 1080p (and above would be ideal), please let me know.

I download videos on many sites, so DownloadHelper is a must for me. (I'm also upset that it stopped downloading videos over 720)
I use the PotPlayer, it has a Resize Feature. I would use 3840X2160, but it would struggle, so I had to go down gradually until I found the sweet spot. It is mainly to enhance the quality of the cruddy 360p videos, when that resolution is the only one available for YouTube(To view and download).
You can always browse the huge selection of add-ons in Firefox's site for one that suits your needs, regarding a downloader.

Complete YouTube Saver (latest
here) for downloading 1080p+ videos, it'll also mux the Dash streams for you.

Thank you all for the suggestions, I've noted them all down and I'm currently testing Complete YouTube Saver. So far, after having FFmpeg path set, things are going smooth. The only thing that I'm worried about is how I might have to manually look for updated addon versions, considering AMO has an older version than what's available on the dev's site.
And megaman, interesting usage case there. I currently use MPC-HC with custom shaders for tweaking colors and sharpness, but I do try to keep my consumption of low res stuff to a minimum, only if I really have no other option, but it seems worth looking into. I ought to find a way to port that to MPC-HC somehow, though.
Oh, also [/off-topic]

I love using the MPC-HC because it does what I need. Of course, I also do the HD upconversion Shaders.
Pre-Shaders:
De-interlace(blend)
Sharpen Complex 2(I prefer Sharpen Complex)
Procamp
BT.601 to BT.709
16-235 to 0-255[SD][HD]
But if you are serious about increasing quality to the fullest, even with the PotPlayer you can do this, use MadVR. It's very powerful and uses the full power of the GPU to get amazing quality.

Interesting. I use Deinterlace and Sharpen Complex 2 as post resize shaders. You might want to add YV12 chroma upsampling to fix some annoying issues with red tones as well.
EDIT: Can't use madVR (I know it's awesome) due to using a x64 MPC-HC build.
