Language pack references Firefox names

Post by Lootyhoof » 2012-05-19, 13:59

When using languages packs (in this case, the English (GB) pack), it changes certain aspects of the interface to the relevant Firefox names. For example, the status bar is renamed the add-on bar, and the 'server not found' etc. dialogs reference Firefox rather than Pale Moon. This is using the language packs obtained from the Pale Moon website.

I'm using version 12.0.

Unfortunately the language packs right now are a straight port from Firefox, so wherever the language packs use a hard-coded name instead of what they should use (the branded name), the language pack will refer to the browser as "Firefox" and the Firefox specific terms used in it.
Localization right now is of secondary importance, since there isn't a structured way yet to have a community effort put forth to properly localize the browser. The language packs are supplied as a convenience, most for people who do not speak English well and prefer the browser in their own locale.

If you wish to contribute to the Pale Moon project by supplying a better localization, let me know and I'll get the necessary files out to you for you to edit.
