How to migrate extensions:-Portable to Installed Palemoon

Post by alan9182 » 2012-05-17, 19:39

I have 9 extensions in Palemoon version 8 located at :-
E:\Portable\PaleMoon-8\User\Palemoon\Profiles\Default\extensions

I extracted Palemoon version 9.2 to
E:\Portable\PaleMoon-9\
and I copied the User Profile from Palemoon-8\
This worked with no problems.

I did the same for Palemoon version 12

I now intend to instal the non-portable version of Palemoon.

Please advise :-
Is it better to spend the time using the Add-ons Manager tool Get Add-ons to install the same 9 Add-ons and reconfigure the options to my preferences,
or is it quicker and easier and equally reliable to copy across my portable ...\default\extensions.

Regards
Alan

It is best to re-install the add-ons, as they may possibly have settings stored that point to incorrect paths when moving them from the portable to the desktop version and vice versa. A copy may be quicker, but still require reconfiguration, and some things may even be hidden deep in about:config
