Not able to view both sites with Pale Moon x64

Post by chchoong » 2015-04-06, 14:46

I am using Pale Moon x64 on Windows 8.1 x64 desktop pc. I am having issue with both of these links. Not able to view at all.
When I tried it on Internet Explorer 11. It works for both links.
The two sites are:

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/tv

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/tv/live

Can someone tell me what is wrong.

The site only wants to support the Chrome, Firefox, IE and Safari browsers.

Sadly, both sites are primarily popular local and overseas news to go to. And for so many years Pale Moon is the only default browser that I am comfortable with.

I can have no issue browsing http://www.channelnewsasia.com/ but when it comes to these two sites, http://www.channelnewsasia.com/tv and http://www.channelnewsasia.com/tv/live
it just did not work. I hope the Pale Moon programmer can look into it.

They are the same site just different sections.
I messaged them, but don't hold your breath.(They could take days, weeks, months, or not even reply)

At least I am trying something. :)
Edit: Unfortunately, it didn't go through.

In about:config, make a new preference named general.useragent.override.channelnewsasia.com of String type with the contents Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv: 37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0

Crud, I forgot to mention that. Thanks, squarefractal.
Assuming the minimum is now 37.

Hi, megaman and squarefractal. I was figuring how to input new preference named in about:config. After figuring out for a while, I managed to do it by having right click and create new. I followed exactly the above for inputs and I am still not able to get both of the links workable after creating the new preference. For the time being, I will revert to using Internet Explorer 11 until another new Pale Moon update.

Right, I can't get it to work either.

Sites do work here without problems in Pale Moon, i can visit the sites and can watch videos.

Edit.. I can watch some videos, but some are not possible because of location as it seems. But that is the only problem i can find right now when browsing around. Am i missing something?

We are getting a message "We've Upgraded" and asking us to select one of the modern browsers.(More like Mainstream Browsers)

Firefox Compatibility doesn't help, either.

And using User Agent Overrider 0.2.4, set for Firefox 37, doesn't help either.

Oh sorry, forgot that i have a general useragent override in use to override all pages :D

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:25.3) Gecko/20150308 AppleWebKit/600.2.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/8.0.2 Safari/600.2.5 PaleMoon/25.3.0

Try a site specific one with that settings ;)

I copied the whole thing so one of those does work.
@NightWing Yes, I did try that as well.

Edit: It's the Apple WebKit string that makes it work.

Another victim of UserAgent sniffing. :P
