Very Slow page loading
I have this one site in particular that seems to take forever to load. It is [Admin notice: warez site link removed]. It seems to have to reload after each page that I go to. I think maybe this has something to do with the fact that it would be the first page I go to opening the browser. I use a shortcut to access the page from "Links" on the Taskbar. I think maybe someone should try to open this page from scratch and tell me if they think it takes too long to open "fully".

It loads fast to me. It could be the 10Mbps bandwidth(at the University) or something must be wrong with the browser, might be your bandwidth as well.

Re: Very Slow page loading
A quick check tells me the site loads fast; it also told me this is a "warez site" promoting illegal activity and has therefore been masked. Please do not post links to warez sites even if it is a particular site you have trouble with.

Ahha... a known dodgy site, that's why 'Malwarebytes' flagged it up and blocked it when I clicked on it then!

Re: Very Slow page loading
I went to the site and clicked on a link or 2, not a threat, unless I was downloading something intentionally. Ghostery could have blocked some trackers/ads that might interfere or forced a download, but the point is that the site loads fast to me and Moonchild.steviem1 wrote:Ahha... a known dodgy site, that's why 'Malwarebytes' flagged it up and blocked it when I clicked on it then!

Re: Very Slow page loading
Wow, great that you all answered so fast. Thank you. It seemed to have calmed down for me since I posted. It wasn't that it took so long to load at the time, it just wouldn't fully load. It was like you could use it, but it seemed like it was still loading images on the page. I guess I should've refined the post to fully load instead of just load, but anyway, I have plenty of RAM, i5 proc., so maybe my laptop was just busy at the time. Thanks for the prompt replies you guys.

Re: Very Slow page loading
Julio - I'm pretty sure you're aware of most of this but I'll type it out anyway
, if you make a habit of visiting those sites, switch User to a limited account. You're better protected if you disable Java (don't visit there ever in IE if you have Java installed), keep all your Java, Flash, Shockwave, Adobe Reader (or uninstall it and use an alt.), etc., fully updated - those softwares (and unpatched Windows and browsers) are the main targets for many exploits that want to take control of your PC/PayPal/email account etc.
Actually, all of the above are applicable to web browsing in general for anyone, you never know when the next site you visit will serve you a malicious advert or hidden iframe!

Re: Very Slow page loading
I never use IE. It's browser non gratta on my laptop. I have to clear something up here though. I use jdownloader as my download manager or accelerator or whatever name you use for it. You know that program is driven by java, so what you're telling me is kind of moot. I keep excellent protection on my laptop and in the 5 years that I've used [xxxxx] and 1 other which I'll keep to myself because it is a private site (not porn) for everyone that's snickering, I have not had any seious infection at all. The advice you gave is excellent for everyone, but not every one of those P2P sites are using Malware. The whole idea behind using a computer in this day and age, especially if you're using sites that can be a little, should I say,HINKY, or IFFY, or GRAY AREA, I think you know what sites I mean, you need to use a good Firewall and antivirus or security suite and for God's sake people, keep them up to date. It never hurts to be told again about being careful around file sharing and social sites. Especially about Java and it being used to exploit malware and all kinds of nasties. Thanks again for the heads p.

Re: Very Slow page loading
Maybe we need to remind people that if they want to see wares sites they demand you turn off all web shields from Antivirus, Firewalls and Add-ons. It's not blame of the browser if those pages render bad, you are basically at your own luck if you want to enter on those sites and want to not have a payload.

please stop moralising and preaching to the people who come here.
We all are adults so stop treating us like children and telling us what to do and what not to. it is solely our own wish how to browse the web and how not to.
give specific advice. nobody is asking you for "10 ways to stop malware" .

Okay, who is this aimed for?stravinsky wrote:please stop moralising and preaching to the people who come here.

Also, the idea is simple..."We help those we can with whatever we have at-hand." If the user was helped, there are always compliments to the topic that are welcomed.
Of course, people can think past that, I am talking about your post/comment.

Re: Very Slow page loading
its definitely NOT aimed at moonchild , who gives to the point and brief technical answers, which should be the norm in a technical forum.Okay, who is this aimed for?
its aimed at people who are freely giving advice not asked for.

That user post a malware/warez links to our forum and if you don't like that, is your trouble but we don't want THAT here!stravinsky wrote:please stop moralising and preaching to the people who come here.
