Plug in container has stopped working DEP error message.

Post by Tallpaultn » 2012-04-30, 14:33

I did a clean install of Pale Moon 12.0(32 bit) & each time I close the browser I get a DEP message saying the plug in container has stopped working. I haven't installed any add-ons or anything. I'm running WinVista Home Premium SP2 on a Dell XPS 410 duo core computer. Thank you for your assistance.

You have to add plugincontainter.exe to the DEP list? Hmm...I sense foul play here.

If it's a DEP error message (the window shown doesn't indicate that, why do you say it's a DEP message?) then it would help if you post as much details about the crash as possible (DEP exception code, faulting module, etc.)
Grabbing "AppCrashView" from http://www.nirsoft.net may also help to get more details about this.

I didn't add anything to DEP view. Perhaps I erroneously called it a DEP error because the following error popped up on my screen:

I do not know about this, but plugincontainer might not be allowed to the list, also it should not have to given you that error.

1. Suggestion, uninstall PaleMoon with RevoUninstaller (Advanced Uninstall)
2. Get a registry cleaner Eusing's Free Registry Cleaner and do a Scan, then a Repair(Only once, risky if you do it many times, you were warned)
3. Install PaleMoon cleanly.(It should be a clean install if you cleaned the stuff with Revo)

Still, it could be your antivirus kicking in or something that is supposedly protecting you.

Here's the information I received when I ran "AppCrashView":

I tried Pale Moon 12.0 with my anti-virus & other security protection turned off & I still get the same error message when I close the browser. I've already tried the clean install procedure & that didn't work. Thanks for the tips.

A screenshot doesn't really help - please copy and paste the full data from the bottom window.
DEP on plugin-container usually means that a plugin is doing something bad. Also, can you list the output from about:plugins, please?

Hmm "NPSWF32_11_3_300_231.dll_unloaded"
It seems Flash 11.3 is what caused the crash - I'm using 11.2 (r202) myself without issues. It also seems that 11.2.202.233 is the current release version - so you are using a prerelease/beta of the Flash player?

When I go to the Adobe Flashplayer site it lists the same version I have as the latest version. Can you please tell me where I can find the latest stable version that you have? Thank you.

Can you please tell me where I can download the version of Adobe Flashplayer that you have since the site lists the version I have as the most recent version. I can't seem to find the version you have for some reason. Thank you very much for your help.

Here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplay ... tion3.html

But you need to deinstall your current version, cause you have a never version.

Sam for me, after V12 adopted - AVG reporting virus and again with the fresh download (from an official Mirror) - something is going on here.

VirusTotal scan of the plugin container gives 1 McAfee false positive:

AVG comes back clean - are you sure your AVG is up-to-date?
