VLC 64-bit is now available!

Unread post by Lootyhoof » 2012-04-09, 19:53

A little late saying this, but on March 19th the 64-bit edition of VLC was officially released. It's labelled as 'experimental' but it works just fine here. Also: The 64-bit browser plugin works! :)

It's an extension, not a plugin. One can verify this by noting its location in the Add-ons Manager.

It's never too late to post up about VLC! It has been my player of choice since version 0.8, portable as of 1.something. I too can verify, so far, the correct and problem-free performance of VLC 2.0.1 x64 (portable) under Win7hpSP1x64. I'm quite glad that it has finally arrived - the experiment is a success.

I've never been a big fan of the extension, tho; the user has no control over its settings other than editing prefs.js where it usually responds by going broken. I prefer to point Action to vlc.exe my Content Type choices under Applications in the Options Tool.

Cheers.
