Black border after updating to v.25

Greetings and apologies for asking a lightweight question but...
The border at the top of the page is black rather than the translucent blue. Oddly, if I minimize the blue color is displayed. This is using the dreadful Vista OS (an old p.c.) I've tried using Msoft suggestions and looked at this forum but haven't found a solution.
Thanks, Jim H/badger

My son's computer has Vista on it, and it works the same way, so this must be one of Vista's oddities. I don't know if there is anything that can be done about it (but I plan on looking into it, latter tonight or tomorrow; if I find anything out, I will post it here).
ADDED:
Just noticed the title of this thread.... this behavior was always present no matter what version of Pale Moon was being used (at least on my son's computer).

You can try using the classic menu bar and normal window frame instead of the "custom" drawn Pale Moon button and controls.
To switch, click the Pale Moon button, open the "Options" sub menu and select "Menu bar".
If that doesn't help, some screenshots (of the browser in both settings) might provide some insight as to what is going on.

It has to do with the drivers of the video chip/card.
It also happens on Windows 7.
If you have Nvidia, disable FXAA on Palemoon.
If you have AMD, disable MLAA on Palemoon.
The disabling is on the Nvidia and AMD Control Panels.

M.C., my son's computer is using the classic menu bar, and has the same behavior. What do you mean by "normal window frame?"

Question: How do you get into the Nvidia or AMD Control Panel?

For Nvidia ; right-click on your desktop. There is also an entry in config panel (easier to find when listing everything in it)

This issue must go beyond either Nvidia or ADM; I don't have a right-click menu entry for either one.
(There's also the possibility I'm doing something wrong as I know next to nothing about Nvidia or ADM.)

It should be in Control Panel. [Small Icons View].

RE: Moondhild's suggestion: I use with menu bar enabled. That produces the black border. If I uncheck menu the border is translucent, the same as when the window is not maximized.
RE: the video card: this is a laptop with Intel 945 video chipset. Don't find a way to disable anything on it.

Hmm, well, it might be a Vista oddity - I do mainly target NT 6.1 and above with the rendering back-end, so you may want to try going into Options -> Advanced and unchecking "Use hardware acceleration when available", and seeing if that helps any.

Thanks Moonchild. That didn't make a difference but probably not worth worrying about. Still perplexing that it only happens when the screen is maximized, not in "restore down" as they call it in Vista.

I know what this is all about now!... Yes, When Pale Moon has the menu bar hidden it draws its own window frame. However, with the menu bar shown it defaults back to the window frame being purely drawn by Windows. In Windows Vista, there was a concern that having translucent window frames for maximized windows would be a distraction so the aero msstyle had it so it would be opaque and black when maximized.
This only ever happened in Windows Vista and the behavior was changed in Windows 7's aero msstyle.
While you can patch uxtheme and use a custom modfiied msstyle file to remove this in Vista it is not recommended unless you know what you are doing.
In any case, this is by design of Windows and since this is not the fault of browser I declare this issue:
RESOLVED INVALID
(Please make note of that in the opening post title!)
