Why can't Pale Moon 9.2 open a html file on my computer? And

Post by Libra » 2012-03-04, 06:13

I have Pale Moon 9.2 on my laptop (Win 7 64 bit) and tried to open an html file called energy-report.html. Pale Moon opens and says it can find file ///C:/Windows/System32/energy-report.html.

I put the file on a flash drive and was able to open it on my Vista computer with Pale Moon.

Is there any way I can get the Win 7 Pale Moon to open this file?

Also, in the energy report I got this warning about Pale Moon:

"Platform Timer Resolution:Outstanding Timer Request
A program or service has requested a timer resolution smaller than the platform maximum timer resolution.
Requested Period 10000
Requesting Process ID 3388
Requesting Process Path \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Program Files (x86)\Pale Moon\plugin-container.exe"

Do I have to be concerned about this warning?

Thank you.

Sincerely, Libra

Just an idea: Maybe the file is open for some Windows process or service and that can make the trouble. As you made a copy to another place, the file copied is not longer under control of that process. The plug-in container as its name says runs the plug-ins apart for not crash PM, so some plug-in may crash the container.

EDIT: I founded that other people have bad times opening this file on this location as well, look here: http://www.sevenforums.com/performance- ... eport.html

Some workarounds: Copy the file as well to another place -or- use MISE tab plugin for open it with PM -or- open it with MISE only.

See'ya!

Thank you so much lobocursor! That worked wonderfully.

I didn't understand the warning message - thanks for explaining it.

I have found two application crashes for Pale Moon in the Event Viewer. Here's the info on one:

Is this just a normal crash or something with this laptop?

As far I can understand - The crash was in cascade: mozjs.dll found an error and closed then it crashed Pale Moon as well. The dll is a windows library, sometimes they crash if a page have bogus code or a fault plug-in content like Flash (which does a lot of headaches). This is a normal errror so far, but since is Windows 7, this can happen a connection with the first error you saw.

Thank you for the crash report, please leave it here for the programmers can check it in detail. ;)

Thank you for explaining that. I guess it's probably got to do with flash then.
I'll leave the crash report.

Pheobe green is a very unusual spammer, could be human or bot advertising, but if his/her advice/reply does not make sense, kindly ignore. The admin will fix this problem.

From what I see is that you just have the file in an area that is unknown to the Moon, have you tried moving it to another folder and testing it? The problem I can tell from your OP is that it cannot detect where it is, but it can open it, due to the Flash drive part.

I will try an .html file on my computer to see if I come across the same problem. (I run W7U, so we are on the same OS portion)

Edit: All phoebe did was copy-paste lobocursor's comment and added the website link, kindly ignore the spammer.

Edit 2: The file opens fine on my end no problems from my Downloads folder, but I understand no OS is the same once the person modifies it, so you are not alone.
Also, the file might not have been with its dependencies folder.
