Pale Moon 9.0.1
My Fix...!!
Hotmail..Issues..?
IMO:::
Using ActiveX controls (Automatic) is so dangerous….
Miscro$oft Internet Explorer (Silver Light) , Windows Media Player, Adobe Flash Player and Sun Miscrosystem’s (Java) are the main culprits, as to why this embedded web page Protocol and operating system Function is still in usage…??/….
Fact::
[ ActiveX is a Microsoft technology developed in 1996 ]..
Fact::
[ ActiveX is still a security risk and flaw in 2012 ]
Do the math…!!
ActiveX controls install at the system level, not at the application level.. They also have most of the functions as a regular Windows program running on your PC.
For this reason I will only use Firefox /Pale Moon and “no” ActiveX. With the exception of Adobe Flash Player (Note.. This is not by Choice).
With this add-on:….. IE Tab V2 …….
If : you need to access and to navigate Internet Explore web sites such as, Hotmail…
This add-on will make it possible to..>>… Open IE web sites in a TAB (Only) access info and navigate at the application level...
IE Tab V2 / 4.1.3.1 / (By ietab.net)
is working very well with Firefox 9.0.1
(…Caution there is many IE tab add-ons (choose wisely..)
Note...Only..!!
….. There is a minor inconvenience of having to log in manually at every visit to IE embedded web sites and with no ActiveX installed…The tab Gui’s or web page (tab) may display differently...
Sadly:
No browser is truly safe to use on the Internet these days But…!! Why…?. open a” Back Door” for an ActiveX control (Automatic) from a malware infested site or an ActiveX that was downloaded by mistake on your PC.
ActiveX should have been eliminated after 4 to 6 years of security flaws and issues…?..
Math = 16 years an still continuing…
Why..?...

Re: ActiveX, MSIE and Pale Moon
You are mistaken. By using IETab, you are using the MSIE back-end, which in turn can use ActiveX controls (at the system level). IETab merely provides an interface to the MSIE back-end, it does NOT include a renderer of its own!This add-on will make it possible to..>>… Open IE web sites in a TAB (Only) access info and navigate at the application level...
Using IETab is as "safe" as using MSIE in that respect, and I would say even less secure because you don't have the application-level controls that MSIE as a browser provides including some security features.
I suggest for the very few IE-only sites out there (hotmail works fine in Pale Moon!) that you start MSIE, and not use IETab. -- Keep IETab only for when you do webdesign and you need to check how it looks in IE without starting the browser.

Thank_U for your knowledge and insight on this issue…
“”” _IETab merely provides an interface to the MSIE back-end, it does NOT include a renderer of its own!_...”””
Fact:: After Micro$oft updates were applied last year (2011) to ActiveX security issues…
Basic Firefox 8 and Firefox 9 (with-out plugins / Safe Mode)… Do not “navigate” within the Hotmail web sites…
Fact:: Yes you can.. Open Hotmail and Log-in to your account in hotmail ..
However: With out MSIE (ActiveX)…. Navigation of your mail account web page is not possible… This is a known “Operating System” Issue..…. Micro$oft “is” aware of this with Firefox… But. Their hotline is unresponsive to our concerns…Their only suggestion is to install and use Internet Explorer…
Please note::..Heading…
Vista-Ultimate32-SP2 (x86)….””” [U.S.Version] …”””
The “dissimilar” International versions of Windows can be purchased without Internet Explorer (MSIE) components per-installed…
The option to install a fully compatible Browser “with-out”… MSIE components is an option “NOT” available in the United States (O/S)….
Fact: "Placebo" Affect::
Yes (U.S.A.) we can install another browser and have full usage / functionality during the initial installation of Windows…
But…!!!... Internet Explorer (MSIE) components are “still installed”. The worst part about these IE (MSIE) components..?...Is that, these MSIE (ActivX) system components are impossible to remove from US Versions of Windows (O/S)…
You referred to these MSIE system components as back-ends..
It is my understanding that IE Tab V2 / 4.1.3.1 /
Allows the activation of MSIE (Active X/System) at the application level.
The manual enable and disable (MSIE_Start/Stop) process is by-passed ..??...
Using Pale Moon’s application level _IE-tab/functions_ to facilitate this process per-automatic interface (Per Web-Page)… Would be preferable..?
Moon::
The fantastic Pale Moon (Firefox- build) you have produced is proof of your expertise…
Please advise..?
Your knowledge and experience is far greater …
If: Not IEtab_V2
Then:: what other Secure_Add-on will allow the Navigation of IE Web Sites..?
Again:
Thank-U for taking the time to read my post...

Re: ActiveX, MSIE and Pale Moon
Fact: I have just logged in to Hotmail with pale Moon 9.0.1, without ietab, without using any activeX control, and it works 100% on both http and https.Fact:: Yes you can.. Open Hotmail and Log-in to your account in hotmail ..
However: With out MSIE (ActiveX)…. Navigation of your mail account web page is not possible… This is a known “Operating System” Issue..….
I have tested just about all navigation functions there are, even made a new alias and poked at the options, no problem.
Fact: Hotmail is used world-wide by millions of people from a large number of devices and operating systems, none of which have ActiveX capabilities (since that is Windows & MSIE specific)
Conclusion: Your premise is flawed. Re-check hotmail's functionality.
Suggestion: stop writing your posts like a computer program and try to make it a normal story, it's much easier to read
