Toshiba Portege R600-S4201
Processor is U9400 Dual Core with plenty of SSE instructions
Windows 7Pro
5GB RAM
Big SSD
It used Pale Moon flawlessly in the past, but I just installed that SSD. I'm installing all the apps, but the Pale Moon loader rejected me claiming incompatibility. I was unable to get to the debug function so have no log to post.

Re: INcompatibility with this dual core SSE CPU
Hi Henry,
I've had no problem installing Pale Moon on a very fast SSD myself, and
honestly it doesn't care what drive it is installed on; that is left to
the operating system to handle.
Can you please give me as much information as possible about this? Which
version of Pale Moon are you installing? Portable or Desktop? 32 or 64
bit? What error messages do you get, exactly? Can you let me know the
steps you take to lead up to the error? Please be as thorough as possible.

Re: INcompatibility with this dual core SSE CPU
I'm trying to install 64 bit desktop, but don't even get as far as that choice. The web installer, which apparently inspects my system for compatibility, rejects me on the spot. It claims that I must have at least SSE. Well, this dual core U9400 laptop definitely DOES have SSE.
I've used Administrator Mode, tried a clean install from a fresh boot, etc. but have found no operating condition in which the installer approves my computer.
Before installing the hard drive, Pale Moon worked brilliantly on this same unit.
I have not found a way to get to the debug function.

Re: INcompatibility with this dual core SSE CPU
I've just tested the web installer with a dual core x64 Windows 7 desktop w/ HDD and a W7 x86 netbook with SSD, it works as expected, CPU details are listed in the status bar.
My guess is that the CPU detection routine doesn't work on the hardware - it can't read the motherboard/chipset details or, if it can, it doesn't have the data for that CPU.
A full download and install will bypass this problem.

I wanted to suggest that, but there should still be an adjustment labeling his processors as compatible, if they really are, and we know they are.cymroly wrote:A full download and install will bypass this problem.

Re: INcompatibility with this dual core SSE CPU
Aha! I didn't know you were talking about the web installer. I was thinking you were talking about the standalone downloaded one.
Can you please follow the instructions stated in the dialog box and send me the data as requested? i will have to add your specific CPU details to the installer as an exception case to the web installer if it is indeed detected incorrectly (I've had to do that with a few older CPUs as well).
Also note: The web installer, for proper detection, requires the Windows Management Instrumentation service. This is an essential service but some people have it disabled as part of "tweaking" (not recommended, more system-critical services rely on this). if you have this disabled, then the web installer simply won't work.
Also: This has nothing to do with your drives being SSD or not, since the information gathered is purely system/CPU information.
