Here is something I see while playing around with new installs of mozilla-based browsers (Palemoon or Firefox):
1. Start with any mozilla-based browser installed and working with both Flash and Java.
2. Uninstall the browser and manually delete any left over folders or settings, in preparation for a clean install of a newer mozilla-based browser.
3. After installing the browser, go to the test sites for Flash and Java, only to discover that the browser won't use the already installed Flash and Java programs.
4. Only solution so far is to uninstall Flash and Java, and then reinstall them. After which the test sites recognized the programs.
Do I always need to reinstall Flash and Java when doing a clean install of Palemoon (and Firefox)?
This does not seem to be a problem when I just update from within the browser itself.
Thanks.

Re: Flash and Java not Recognized
It depends on what you manually delete as "leftover folders".
An uninstall and reinstall of the browser should not influence system-wide installed plugins.

Re: Flash and Java not Recognized
The folders manually deleted are the Palemoon/Firefox one under Programs and the folder found under Documents & Settings.
Removing those should not affect Flash or Java. It just seems like the install process for the Palemoon/Firefox browser doesn't pick up on the Flash and Java that are already installed.
Is there a setting or file that can be tweaked to point the new browser to the location of the Flash or Java files? Has anyone else noticed this problem?
