Pale Moon 34.3.1 (64-bit), on Windows 10.
Trying to troubleshoot something on a page I'm developing, I want to record a performance profiling trace, but the 'Performance' panel is not available in Dev Tools.
In the Options section, the checkbox to enable it is greyed out (although it's checked, funnily enough). There's an asterisk next to it, but no clue as to its meaning:
Also tried Tools → Developer Tools → Performance (or Shift+F5)... no dice, it just opens the console. Disabled every extension I have installed, but still nothing.
Any ideas?

I've got the same grayed out Performance box and yet no Performance tab. And devtools.performance.enabled is set to True in about:config.
Strange.
Strange.

I feel like I posted about this ~7 years ago but too lazy to look that up right now...
Edit: Looks like it was a bit over 3 years ago:

And as postulated in that post, I'm pretty sure the "Performance" tab is actually the "Memory" tab and the menu option name should be changed accordingly.

Not entirely certain but think the only "bug" is the misplaced asterisk notice. It should be above "Available Toolbox Buttons" instead.
The notice should explain the situation. As for being checked, it shouldn't matter if it's not supported.

Re: Performance panel missing in DevTools (checkbox disabled)
That's not the case. In FF52 (starting with FF40, according to a quick search), this tab contains the performance profiler (which is what @largactyl is looking for), and it works just fine. But in PM, for some reason, the profiler is either disabled, partially removed, or something else (maybe additional build parameters are required to enable it?). In any case, the menu item is a leftover from the original functionality.

Actually, I've had a question for @Moonchild for a while now: Is there any reason why the profiler is disabled, and is there a way to enable it? I'd like to use it on some websites; also, I think with the latest browser updates, it would make sense to evaluate performance issues - but without a profiler, that's practically impossible...
