I hate encountering QR codes in real life… I've already been in situations in real life where I couldn't participate in a poll or survey, or attend an event because I couldn't make a QR code work for me (sometimes I can after struggling with it for 15 minutes or in some instances even pulling out my laptop to scan it…
I talked a bit about my recent QR experiences at an anime convention in another thread. In summary, I never suffered for it, since people were willing to listen. They were also willing to listen when I explained that, because I am autistic, I was not comfortable with letting them stamp ink onto my hand, so they gave me a card to carry to show I was permitted to enter. Kind people make the difference.
I…don't do the stupid trick of snapping a picture of the whiteboard with my smartphone while a teacher is teaching rather than taking traditional notes. I had one teacher get mad that I couldn't just snap a quick photo of the board and wanted to take notes by hand. When she saw my phone, she just told me I had to have a classmate e-mail me the notes, as if I had come to class unprepared or something and she was pissed she had to accommodate me not having a good quality smartphone camera. She pretty much only grudgingly accommodated me with that solution after I pointed out that she didn't mention in the syllabus that we have to use a smartphone, let alone one with a good quality front-facing camera.
That stupid trick misses the whole point of taking notes. :wtf:
Nowhere in my university career has anybody supposed that all students possess a smartphone, although at one point, I remember needing to explain to a teacher that I was too socially isolated to know any of my classmates, and therefore could not rely on any of them to send me email about assignments.

Seems it works in converting QR code to an URL (not gone any further).
Could be useful for QR codes online, but not if they are printed, unless you own a scanner.
The site also lets you upload files. Maybe use print-screen on the QR code, then paste into your image editor of choice, then upload it as an image?

Taking a picture of a whiteboard literally does nothing for learning. Taking notes makes sure you read and understand the material and it actually gets stored in your brain, not your phone's memory.

Off-topic:
The university I (very briefly) attended was about 30 minutes from my home. I'd record the professor's lectures and then listen to it on my radio while driving to/from school and work, which was also about 30 minutes away. I found it a lot more helpful than writing notes or taking pictures of the whiteboard.
