It seems to immediately crash the browser when the progress reaches 8/10. It needs WebAssembly enabled to work. Once fully loaded in a different browser like Firefox it should show a Touhou fangame, as shown in this demo video: https://xcancel.com/OssamaHjaji/status/ ... 6644720640

I've uploaded a minidump to the FTP; the filename is palemoon-crash_202601082007.7z (109 MB)

I'm really not sure what's going on there. I tried debugging but it seems to be a call stack that falls completely outside of all loaded modules. I guess it needs a debug build to investigate. It's a near-null write crash, but otherwise no information i can gather from either the dump or even having a local debugger attached and reproducing the crash.

Btw it doesn't crash when the baseline JIT compiler for WASM is disabled, and it runs the game perfectly fine without it. Might be a hint on where it is going wrong (and at worst we could disable it in the next release as a workaround if a solution can't be found). I stumbled upon the workaround while trying to get a regression range as far back as 28.0.0 (which still crashes with baseline JIT enabled for WASM there). It seems this bug might be an inherited one from Mozilla's ESR 52 codebase that we aren't just so lucky to have found out until now...

hmm.
Maybe a mozregression might point to a problem in the wasm JIT by finding the fix window. I'm not particularly happy about the idea of disabling JIT compiling for wasm because the whole point of wasm is that it is compileable bytecode and typically used in situations where high performance is required.

Unfortunately it seems mozregression doesn't help with me here... 2017-02-10 is the last build which throws a CompileError for the problem URL, while 2017-02-11 runs the wasm perfectly fine (and I did make sure baseline JIT for WASM is enabled for both builds, and both of them don't even have WASM enabled by default). There's no in-between where it successfully compiles and crashes the browser (or tab in this case because e10s).

I can confirm though that the problematic URL crashes 52.0esr with both WASM and WASM's baseline JIT enabled, while it runs fine and doesn't crash in 53.0 (with baseline JIT for WASM enabled there too). Unfortunately a mozregression with bisect between "release" (instead of "date") 52 and 53 doesn't reveal the build that compiles the wasm and crashes as a result either (it bisects between 2017-01-23 and 2016-11-24 which is way outside of February 2017 where the wasm successfully compiles).

If it matters I've ticked the checkbox which checks for a bugfix instead of a regression.

EDIT: Perhaps it could actually be a regression prior to 52 that was only caught after the release of 52.0.2 and before 53.0... I will try looking for a regression between 2017-02-11 and 2017-03-07

EDIT2: Well that didn't work either, and bisecting for regression between 2017-03-08 and 2017-04-20 didn't work too. I wonder if the crashing build is even in mozilla-central... :coffee:

Know that throwing guesses out there isn't exactly great but this one does appear plausible.

Hopefully it helps.

Seem you might on to something since it's the exact same callstack.
