Pale Moon > Clipboard > OnlyOffice Document

Post by mseliger » 2025-11-14, 16:17

Operating system:Linux Mint 22
Browser version:33.9.1
32-bit or 64-bit browser?:64-bit

Hello, I've a little problem with the clipboard.

When I open a new OnlyOffice Document (Community Edition) in Windows 10 or in Windows 11 and copy / paste text or images from the Pale Moon Browser then the clipboard is pasted as rich, formatted text, like you see it in the browser.
When I do the same in Linux, the text is pasted as something like source code html:

Code: Select all

<div class="row"><div class="col-lg-9 col-md-9 col-mod-single"><header class="entry-header"> <div class="theme-headline">Astronomie</div> <h1 class="entry-title h1 rs-speak" id="headline">Unser Sonnensystem bewegt sich zu schnell</h1> <h2 class="meta-category rs-speak" id="subline"> Messungen anhand von Radiodaten zeigen signifikante Abweichungen zum Standardmodell </h2> <div style="display: block; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="entry-meta meta-small">14. November 2025, Lesezeit: 4 Min.</div></header> <div class="herald-post-thumbnail herald-post-thumbnail-single"> <span><a data-fancybox="" data-options="{"buttons":["fullScreen", "close"]}" href="https://www.scinexx.de/wp-content/uploads/s/o/solartempog.jpg"><img src="https://www.scinexx.de/wp-content/uploads/s/o/solartempog-990x543.jpg" class="attachment-herald-lay-single size-herald-lay-single wp-post-image" alt="Sonne im All" decoding="async" fetchpriority="high" srcset="https://www.scinexx.de/wp-content/uploads/s/o/solartempog-990x543.jpg 990w, https://www.scinexx.de/wp-content/uploads/s/o/solartempog-300x164.jpg 300w, https://www.scinexx.de/wp-content/uploads/s/o/solartempog-768x421.jpg 768w, https://www.scinexx.de/wp-content/uploads/s/o/solartempog.jpg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px" width="990" height="543"></a></span> <figure class="wp-caption-text">Wie schnell bewegt sich unser Sonnensystem durch das Universum?
If I do the same with Firefox then the clipboard is pasted as rich, formatted text, like you see in the browser. So I think there is something different when handling clipboard data in Firefox and in Pale Moon.

You might see if toggling the about:configf preference item, clipboard.plainTextOnly makes any difference.

(Also note that it need not necessarily be odd that some preferences may have different defaults on different OS.)

I find that pasting into OnlyOffice gives a lot of unexpected results no matter the source, so I tend to use Ctrl-Shift-V to paste-as-plain-text. Unfortunately, OnlyOffice doesn't have a context menu item for paste-as-plain-text, so the keyboard shortcut seems to be the only way.

Good luck. If you find a better paste method into OnlyOffice please let us know, I'd be interested, as I use it daily.

Hello,

some of my discoveries:

1. If I set clipboard.plainTextOnly to true it changed nothing with Linux Mint. If I copy text and images from the browser to LibreOffice the images are also copied. In OnlyOffice the text is scrambled with tags as before.

2. about:config with Windows and Linux Mint
The default entries for clipboard from Windows and Linux Mint are different:
clipboard.autocopy false in Windows
clipboard.autocopy true in Linux Mint

Autocopy also don't work if it set to true.
