Cloudflare again - Your browser is out of date

Post by hitokage » 2025-10-29, 18:29

Operating system: Windows 7 x64
Browser version: 33.9.1
32-bit or 64-bit browser?: 64-bit
Problem URL: https://www.askwoody.com/
Browser theme (if not default): N/A - default
Installed add-ons: Will add later if determined to be not reproducible
Installed plugins: (about:plugins): See last statement

If possible, please include the output of help->troubleshooting information (as text):
Will add later if determined to be not reproducible

The Askwoody website was under attack several months ago, and activated Cloudflare's protection at that time. Today upon trying to open their main page, Cloudflare's test responds with "Your browser is out of date. Update your browser to view this site properly. Click here for more information". No manual challenge is given, the constant loop issue that previously occurred also doesn't happen, and no standard way to bypass the block.

I'm not sure if this just started today or not, as I've been away from my computer in general recently. The last time I visited and had no issue appears to be October 25th.

Same thing this evening (was still working a few hours ago) for Second Life sites, e.g.: https://community.secondlife.com/

Same thing on https://device.report/ which I "just" visited an hour or so ago.

If this is not a temporary glitch mistake, then it seems the Browser Dev program they set up was only so much hot air. Enough to get us off their backs for a while, until they could go back to their usual chromium-only manners.

I'm hoping it's a mistake, but their history must be taken into account too.

Seems to have been temporary?
At least I'm not seeing any issues with the challenges presented. they just spin and pass, or don't even show at all (secondlife just went straight through).

Do I have to restart the browser?
Because it isn't fixed for me

I'm not thinking this has anything to do with local caching so a restart wouldn't fix it. If it's currently an issue for other it may be a staggered roll-out of new (broken) challenge code that is still not being tested against Pale Moon, apparently.

I've shot my contacts at CloudFlare an e-mail to see what they say. With the latest messages on the browser dev program board seeing extremely slow responses if any I'm not sure it's actually being actively monitored by CF staff while they should.

Oh, I try to reload page more time (with reload button) and nothing, but then I reload the page clicking enter on link bar and now the page is loaded correctly. Strange!

Seems to be working for me again (all URL's linked in this thread). Phew, it was most likely just a temporary hiccup. Still, they should check against browsers before it going live though.

Which cloudflare websites has this affected you on? It could just be a rogue a-hole doing this.

IE, someone deliberately did this on their site because... they want that ass

Randomly fixed itself now.
Still, we should remain vigilant.

I just clicked on the link you provided, thanks for that, and I had no problems reaching the site. I even surfed around it for a few minutes. Maybe CF is getting a little pushback and they fixed the issue for Pale Moon? Just a guess on my part.

Feedback from CF:
It was a mistake that was quickly reverted, even before my contact could complete their internal inquiry.

So this was an actual unintended change that was quickly corrected. It should work properly again; if it doesn't try a hard refresh of the site(s) you had issues reaching.

It seems everyone else has already reported their findings and it has been fixed by Cloudflare. I did want to confirm that it is working for me now as well, and no browser restart was required. It's good it was resolved fairly quickly and wasn't intentional.

The askwoody.com website did make a good test for this, as it seems to be having Cloudflare do its check about once a day, and everyone seems to get it.

I just noticed the typo I made in the post subject .

I do not get error messages. It just spins endlessly with the "prove you are human".
