[Solved] No AVX / illegal instruction / Linux 64 ...

Post by Raava » 2025-10-16, 15:54

Operating system: Linux
Browser version: all above palemoon-33.4.0.1.linux-x86_64-gtk2 give the illegal instruction error.
32-bit or 64-bit browser?: 64

Since palemoon stopped working (illegal instruction)
is locked I have to open a new thread..

You have to use the SSE2 builds.

ftp://ftp.palemoon.org/avx/
Sadly, ftp://ftp.palemoon.org/avx/ seems to be empty. The status bar says "done" after a few seconds, but the page is empty, I cannot use the right-mouse context menu to look into the page source and the "reload current page" icon is greyed out.

When I open developer tools/network and use the URL bar to forcefully reload the page, nothing appears in the developer tools/network window (that never happened before AFAIK).

Same happens trying to open ftp://ftp.palemoon.org/ .
Does the developer tools/network window only work for http/https addresses and not for ftp?

Has the page for non-AVX-builds moved?

Edit
After more searching on the forum, seems the builds are to be found here: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=27873

Edit 2
Indeed, https://ftp2.palemoon.org/avx/linux/pal ... tk2.tar.xz did the trick.

Off-topic:
Amusing misspelling in the thread title. I saw that bit and immediately thought what Pale Moon has to do with ATX.
