Palemoon keyboard freeze, clear cache "fixes" it.

Post by RCPete » 2025-07-10, 02:10

Operating system: Linux Slackware64 15.0
Browser version: 33.8.0
32-bit or 64-bit browser?: 64
Problem URL: Periodic freeze in browsing. Temp fix is to clear the cache.
Browser theme (if not default): Default
Installed add-ons: ABPrime 3.1.7770, Classic Password Editor 1.1.2, eMatrix (it's a "nu" for the e, but) 5.1.1
Installed plugins: (about:plugins):

If possible, please include the output of help->troubleshooting information (as text):

Not sure if it's browser or system. However, I get freezes in PM. Mouse works fine, but no keyboard response, until I clear the cache. Other windows in the system work OK. I had to rebuild the system (pilot error, now fixed--maybe), and that happened July 3rd, so not sure which. Haven't tried it on other machines, yet. Will do so if necessary.

Further info: As best as I can tell, it occurs after I've seen some video in Pale Moon. I've been on a few hours this morning with no freezes, but there's been no video. (When it starts freezing, it's usually with a few megabytes in the cache, though it can be as low as 700K. That one happened a few minutes after clearing the cache, but the browser was setting idle.)

If the problem continues, and have no better advice, I'll try the following:

First, I'd re-install the previous version of Pale Moon. If it crashes, I'll report back and redo my OS.

If not, I'll report back...

[Emily Letilla voicd:] "Nevermind".

Doing a clean reinstall of the Linux OS seems to have solved the problem. I have Pale Moon running on the development bleeding-edge version, and it's also working properly.
