Tabs & Bookmark Bar Mystery
Operating system: OS X "El Capitan" [10.11.6]
Browser version:33.7.0 [and earlier]
32-bit or 64-bit browser?:64-bit
Installed add-ons:Ghostery
New Pale Moon user; installed about a month ago on mid 2009 MacBook Pro.
At first, bookmarks would not appear in bookmarks bar; only in sidebar. Bookmark bar remained empty. Tab bar normal, same as in Firefox.
Couple of days ago the bookmarks showed up in the tab bar; multiple open tabs no longer show, bookmark bar remains empty/blank. URL of tab appears in navigation bar; name of tab appears at top of window where tab bar should be.
Deleted and reinstalled Pale Moon; tried earlier versions, same thing. Cannot get open tabs to simultaneously display.
In "Display All Tabs" option, small window opens with tabs represented as tiles; does not relate to tab bar problem.

Re: Tabs & Bookmark Bar Mystery
You probably did something extra with toolbar customization.
Open the "Customize Toolbar" window, find the "Bookmarks" widget and move it to the booknarks toolbar if it's not there.
If nothing helps, create a new profile...
UPDATE:
Alternatively, you can delete/rename the xulstore.json file in your profile folder. You will lose all your customization.

Re: Tabs & Bookmark Bar Mystery
Instead of poking around in your profile, it's better to go into "Customize" and click the button "restore default set".
If that doesn't help, please post the details from Help->troubleshooting information (use the button "Copy text to clipboard" and paste it in your reply, preferably using the forum's "hide" tags) and provide some screenshots for clarification?

Re: Tabs & Bookmark Bar Mystery
I appreciate the replies.
When this problem took place, I had not done anything that I recall with the "customize" option.
(I just removed it and added it back; yielding no change.)
I placed the bookmarks widget on the navigation bar with the other widgets when I first installed Pale Moon for easy access, since at that time the bookmarks only appeared in the sidebar.
I also tried "restore default set" which did nothing other than restoring the default set.

Re: Tabs & Bookmark Bar Mystery
Please verify that you haven't inadvertently switched off the bookmarks toolbar.
In the application menu, View->Toolbars->Bookmarks toolbar

Re: Tabs & Bookmark Bar Mystery
Again, thank you for the reply.
I have tried toggling all toolbar options in all possible configurations. I KNOW the bookmarks are appearing in the tab bar for this reason, and again, selecting the toolbar causes it to appear only as a blank space, with no ability to add to it.
(If I select "Tabs on Top", the bar with the recently appeared bookmarks moves to the top.)
Bookmarks are saved normally to sidebar, but now also appear in the tab bar as described in my top post.
They appeared at the same time that the top of window display of all open tabs disappeared, when the title of the selected tab (whose URL appears in the navigation bar) appeared in its place at the top of the Pale Moon window.
The only way to see which or how many tabs are open is to select "View All Tabs" as previously described.
Trying to figure out how to post a screenshot. Should be able to do so shortly.
(Will do if I don't mildew.)

Re: Tabs & Bookmark Bar Mystery
WAIT........
Somehow it appears that Pale Moon is now acting normally, for some reason; as mysteriously and sudden as the problem first appeared. Did you somehow transcend the time/space continuum from Sweden and reach out lo these many miles across the pond and heal my aging Mac, here in the floundering and crumbling USA? I am flummoxed and befuddled, to say the least. But I am thankful for whatever magic remains in this world......... Bookmarks are now in the bookmarks bar where they belong, for the first time since my initial Pale Moon installation; and the tab display appears normal again.
It seems in my previous posts I was inaccurate in describing the title of the selected tab recently appearing at the top, however, since it is still there above the tabs, and it DID NOT just recently appear IN PLACE OF the open tab display, as I reported. Apparently it was there the whole time; I guess I had not previously noticed it.
Thank you for apparently applying your enchanted lunar mojo.
Namaste.
