Filling in passwords
Operating system: Windows7
Browser version:33.2
32-bit or 64-bit browser?:64
I feel I am missing something. Just had a major failure and having to install stuff again.
I like Palemoon to fill in saved info but although the passwords are saved, PM doesn't fill in details. I have tried switching from Private to non-private browsing and back.
Any suggestions gratefully received

Re: Filling in passwords
What kind of failure did you have? How did you recover form it, exactly?
Have you checked under "saved passwords" and showing the passwords in that screen that everything is still in order?
Did you use a master password before? It's not enabled at the moment in your screenshot.

Re: Filling in passwords
Thank you for your reply. I didn't explain myself at all.
I have two machines both running win7, one 32-bit (main use), one 64-bit (backup).
Something happened to 32-bit machine and rebooted into Windows but something very strange happened. I haven't got to bottom of that yet. Still working on that.
Went to 64-bit machine to update stuff there, installed PM 32.xxx. Every time I click on a link I am asked if I want to save password. (screenshots) Yes. OK, but when I check for saved passwords without closing PM there are no passwords saved.
I have never used a master manager on either machine. By comparison passwords are saved in Opera and Waterfox. I have files on rogue machine with usernames and passwords but it is a pain to check those each time
Sorry if this isn't totally clear but I am having kniptions trying to figure what is where

Re: Filling in passwords
Still using Win7 64bit and PM 33
Out of curiosity I installed (separately) PM27.9.4 on the 64bitmachine. It works and it saves the passwords as it did on the 32bit machine. They are all there when I check Saved Passwords
Both versions are running the same Privacy settings. Not in Private Browsing.
Any solutions gratefully received - having to type in passwords for every site is a real pain

Re: Filling in passwords
... so you're having an issue because you used an ancient version 27.9.4 and then expected that to translate without hiccups to 33.7? I'm sorry to say but that's not possible without a number of intermediate versions (watersheds) to make sure various changed profile formats are converted to what is currently in use. Making huge leaps across many years doesn't always work.
For the passwords you will have to go through installing and running (so start up the browser, wait a few minutes, then exit) the following versions in sequence:
You can find older versions on https://archive.palemoon.org/
If you update as-normal with each major release, you can avoid this kind of issue (as well as not being vulnerable to known browser exploits that get patched each month)

Sorry, must be me again,... so you're having an issue because you used an ancient version 27.9.4 and then expected that to translate without hiccups to 33.7? I'm sorry to say but that's not possible
The probelm is the complete opposite. When I changed to Win7, 64bit PM33 wouldn't (and doesn't) save the passwords. When I went back and used the 'ancient' version of PM (separate installation) it saved (and saves) the passwords.
I started on this machine with PM33 - that was the one that didn't work with passwords

Re: Filling in passwords
Are you sure you didn't have old profile data that was being used? If you did, then you would run into this issue. i.e. if you ever installed Pale Moon before on this system then you may still have had the old profile. As suggested try a new profile with Pale Moon 33 and only use it with Pale Moon 33.cannonmc wrote: ↑2025-04-22, 23:47The probelm is the complete opposite.
