I confirmed it works in a default profile.

...but in my main profile with both eMatrix and uBlock Origin turned off (but not fully disabled) it still hangs. This time at least Linux gave me a termination prompt so I avoided a reboot.

What is next in line to try?

Supposing I can get a clean profile also to pass how would I go about getting my real profile to work too? The problem being that if every change requires a forced reboot I'll waste a lot of time and maybe damage something else in my system.
Only you can know the changes you made to your profile, irreversible or otherwise. I'd start over and carefully build a new one. You'll most probably waste less time and personally I do this every now and then, often after a milestone PM release. Sounds like good practice to keep things clean, organised and knowing exactly what each extension does and how it may interfere, along with any changed default settings etc.

Keeping track of things is important. Adding random extensions, userscripts, hacks etc. over time, is bound to cause issues. A simple uninstall might not be enough after a point.

First off back up your entire profile, for safety. Make sure Pale Moon is not running when backing up.

Then start Pale Moon and:
- globally allow cloudflare.com and its subdomains, cloudflareinsights.com and its subdomains, in any and all active adblockers
- remove (blank out) any custom user-agent override (general.useragent.override.xxxxx) for the aforementioned domains and subdomains in about:config
- remove any userscripts and/or GreaseMonkey scripts
- make sure javascript is enabled globally or per site (if any extension can disable it, such as QuickJava)
- enable hardware acceleration in Menu > Tools > Preferences > General [tab]
- enable Media Source Extensions in Menu > Tools > Preferences > Content > Media [tab]
- install the Pale Moon Commander extension, open it in Menu > Tools > Advanced Preferences and enable WebGL and WebGL version 2 in Graphics > 3D [tab]

If still won't work then try to enable:
- performance-related options in Menu > Tools > Preferences > Privacy > Tracking [tab]
- WebAssembly in Menu > Tools > Preferences > Content > General [tab]
- all options within Page Content group in Pale Moon Commander > Performance > JavaScript [tab]
- HTML5 Local Storage in Pale Moon Commander > Other > Other [tab]

If still won't work install HTML5 Media Tuner extension, add its button to the toolbar and select HTML5+MSE in its menu for each CloudFlare-protected site.

Please note all the above have been put together while checking my own three year old PM profile which is now working fine with CloudFlare. Not sure if everything there is required, just reported how it is in options that may matter for the issue at hand.
Using Nuck-TH's SSE2 GTK3 Pale Moon version in Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon on a 2009-model Samsung R580 notebook.

Hope this helps.

That kinda depends on how deep the rabbit hole is after they implement this:

Thanks, that's a great list of things to try. I hate making new profiles as it always takes a while to get things working how I like again.

Same here. My usual philosophy is try hard to fix, and learn things in the process, rather than start anew and learn nothing. 8-)
Good luck finding the culprit and fixing things!

I am through CF on Camel now. I think it was a user agent override I had set which was a foolish mistake, but exactly why lists like the above are helpful. Also something in GreaseMonkey causes a hang.

I have another site that isn't working: https://www.sciencedirect.com/ in Pale Moon I don't even get the CF prompt, just a message "There was a problem providing the content you requested." In LibreWolf I get a different message: "Are you a robot?" and a CF prompt. Does this site work in Pale Moon for you?

For what it's worth I did try that site yesterday and it did work. My default compatibility mode is Firefox and have not messed with it in a long time. Now, I already got that site's cookies so any subsequent attempts today may not be proof that it works in case they or CF changed anything since yesterday. But yeah, it does work for me today too (without any further changes to profile settings).

I tried safe mode with both Pale Moon and SeaMonkey. It makes no difference. I shall have to use Safari with the fanfiction site. Even with a chromium browser (Vivaldi) which identifies as Chrome 128, the site does not work because of CloudFlare. With Vivaldi, it says the browser is out of date. Given that the current version of Chrome is 136, I guess that kind of makes sense.

Using "Firefox compatibility" I get the message "Your browser is outdated".
Using "Native" page loads fine.

It looks like any fixes made to PM won't help if "Pale Moon" is not mentioned in the user-agent.

Tested https://www.betus.com.pa/authentication/login and nothing has changed. Still loops forever.

I just used that site yesterday, twice with no problems.
It seems they changed something again at CF.
