For those wondering, it's this link at the bottom: Clicking that will get e-mail sent to your registered address when new posts are made.Pentium4User wrote: ↑2024-12-17, 18:42You can configure the forum to receive an email when new posts arrive.

Right. E-mail. Not mail* as I had assumed after reading the original post. You know, because of the words they used.Pentium4User wrote: ↑2024-12-17, 18:42You can configure the forum to receive an email when new posts arrive.

Oh! Haha, no I didn't get that. "mailing list" is assumed to be an e-mailing list in this context.
Why would we ever even think about sending something by post just to announce something is available on-line?

(also, not trying to sell anything with such mailings so it'd literally be money lost sending out letters for nothing)

Until those physical update letters reach their destinations, newer versions most probably would be already available.
I strongly advise against it... unless you include a CD-ROM with Pale Moon-related goodies on that letter.

And unless it's for users living in Sweden or the mainland Scandinavian countries (so excluding Denmark, Iceland, and Greenland), then perhaps the update being out-of-date by arrival wouldn't be a problem!back2themoon wrote: ↑2024-12-18, 12:34Until those physical update letters reach their destinations, newer versions most probably would be already available.

Re: How do I get notified by mail for a new release?
The wording is no longer mail versus email; now it is mail versus surface mail or paper mail or postal service ...

I thought it was snail mail? Guess that's too informal.

Re: How do I get notified by mail for a new release?
Fortunately (?) in this country we have no such language problem. "mail" (in English) is only e-mail (the full locution "posta elettronica" is seldom used). Traditional mail is just called "posta" (and is definitely decreasing ... I've just sent tens of season's wishes by e-mail, versus one real postcard, and I did deliver it by hand. I guess tobacconists do not sell postage stamps as they used to be, and post offices are more second class banks, r ru other things like SPID. Even for registered mail, necessary for official acts, assuming one does not want to use PEC, Posta Elettronica Certificata, which I guess is a local thing only, one can send one online via the Poste site).
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. (G.B. Shaw)

Off-topic:
Same goes for English-speaking countries. We have "mail", and we have "e-mail". There is no confusion.Lucio Chiappetti wrote: ↑2024-12-20, 13:12Fortunately (?) in [Italy] we have no such language problem.
