Could be with the extension in question -
resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm -> jar:file:///C:/Users/Administrator/AppData/Roaming/Moonchild%20Productions/Pale%20Moon/Profiles/r4hvwhb2.default/extensions/%7Ba7213cf2-fa1e-4373-88ff-255d0abd3020%7D.xpi!/bootstrap.js 136 startup

Go to Help->Troubleshooting information or type about:support in a new tab - and on the troubleshooting page, search for the extension ID highlighted in bold from above to know which one it is. Disable the extension, restart and see if anything changes.

Thanks for having a look bat of the moon, the author of that addon who's contributed
in pale moon for that addon, hasn't showed up since his last release in 2017.
I attached the latest version which isn't even in extension field of the palemoon site,
& by the same author: "Downloads Window v0.6.8"

I'll tell you more tomorrow if i realize pm doesn't freeze anymore.

It's there on CAA - caa:addon/downloads-window
It's a restartless extension and those don't work well with Pale Moon.I use The good ol' sidebar and have everything show up in that (extensions, downloads, page info - you can configure it as you want). This one is actually ported to Pale Moon and not something abandoned. In future look at the 200+ Pale Moon addons first rather than sticking with some old unmaintained Firefox one.

It's effectively Downloads Window crashing Pm. thanks for the suggestion but that's too much unneeded code not even bringing back
the old downloads popup & condemning the old history style forcing it to stay away from toolbar icons without having a simple sidebar
history but tones of icons. plus, a ui slow to start. figuring out who could update downloads window seems to be my only last option,
thanks for your help.

This boils down to the inevitability of extensions needing to be maintained, as I've said many times in the past. We can't hold back the browser's development because of one extension or another breaking or causing issues.

There's no need to over-dramatize this. Don't suggest we're doing this, because we are not.

It should actually be your first option, not your last.
How about you try to do it yourself? Find out what the error is, do some research, and see if you can tweak the extensions to be compatible again. It's how most extension devs started.

I don't experience the same issue with Downloads Window. Is the browser freezing or crashing?

The error in the console can be fixed by modifying the extension file \content\modules\watchwindows.jsm. Change line 47 from

Code: Select all

  Components.utils.import('resource://gre/modules/devtools/Console.jsm');
to

Code: Select all

  Components.utils.import('resource://gre/modules/Console.jsm');
I don't know whether or not that will fix your problem because either way I don't see any freezing or crashing after restoring a browser session.

Hi Moonchild,

"xissuesx wrote: condemning the old history style"
Moonchild: There's no need to over-dramatize this. Don't suggest we're doing this, because we are not.

I didn't mean moonbat was condemning anything, but "i" would be condemning the look, feel, options & even the applied
userstyle to certain fields (background or foreground color, focused, unfocused of new urls, already clicked, etc), & maybe even
the "preventscrollonhistory" fix if i decided to use it, but regardless of that, there are too many buttons & it's also a matter of taste.
And becoming a dev takes decades, because a dev always learn, & other more crucial aspects of my hard life prevent me from doing something
i'm also not sure to be witty enough to evolve with in a successful way, with my selective memory & memory lapses ((

Thanks a bunch Cassette,

I'll test it.
