Slight delay when minimizing the browser with taskbar button on Windows
I've been observing this for so long, and curiosity finally got the best of me and I wonder what goes on in the background. Anyway, when you minimize the browser on Windows using taskbar button, there can be slight delay before it minimizes. Larger number of tabs can make it slightly longer, although it doesn't seem to take much longer than a second at worst.
There is no delay when you use minimize button directly, Win + M key combination, minimize option on the old right-click context menu of taskbar button, minimizing through System Informer etc. I assume clicking the button on the taskbar sends some other window message that the browser takes time to process.

I don't observe any delays clicking the taskbar button to minimize Pale Moon, so I'm not entirely sure what would be causing it for you.

Re: Slight delay when minimizing the browser with taskbar button on Windows
It's almost unnoticeable in Pale Moon's safe mode without any addons and a single tab. Emphasis on almost, although I'm noticing behavior to actually be like with other programs in this case. There's one detail I missed before, it seems noticeable Windows switches window frame color to inactive hue before going into minimizing animation when you click the taskbar button while it seems to go straight to minimizing animation when using minimize button.
I only have 2 systems with Windows 10 for reference (versions 1809 and 20H2), the faster one is a laptop with Intel Core i7-6700HQ, a quad-core running at 2,60 GHz, of course faster computer reduces delay.
I'll see if I notice anything different if I turn window animations off. I love them, BTW, so I always keep them on.
No idea why this would only happen when using taskbar button specifically on Windows. Of course, when I use Pale Moon on older KUbuntu install, so with KDE desktop, there is no difference between clicking its button in KDE's taskbar equivalent or the minimize button. The browser can be loaded just as much with add-ons and tabs as on Windows. But that's not saying much since other ways of minimization on Windows are just as snappy.
Edit: Nope, nothing to do with animations.

Re: Slight delay when minimizing the browser with taskbar button on Windows
Found the contributing factor, it's the CuteButtons add-on. I've been using version 0.5.8, which I slightly modified to be loadable from browser's browser/extensions subfolder under installation folder, but it doesn't matter, original is the same. Can't find it again, it was hosted on Interlink add-ons site. The older version in Classic Add-ons Archive behaves the same way. These are my settings:

Any ideas what's going on with it?
Just so we're on the same page, exact XPI I'm using: CuteButtonsCrystalSVG-0.5.8.1.xpi
Edit: Ignore the version above, some changes weren't tested well, better to go with latest at https://github.com/ChoGGi/CuteButtons/releases.

Maybe it doesn't play well with Windows; I've been using version 0.5.8 on Linux with no issues.

Re: Slight delay when minimizing the browser with taskbar button on Windows
I loaded Icons.Normal.css alone through userChrome.css without extension. Minimizing delay using taskbar button is just an odd quirk or side effect, the CSS applied slows down the GUI response in general. Didn't realize my Pale Moon was slower than the norm because of that. The delay on window restoration is very apparent and that's not Windows specific. Or the delay with opening new tabs and switching between tabs in general. This CSS file doesn't effect the old Firefox 52.9 much. You can remove some CSS tweaks from that file that deal with other extensions, but that's not the major issue it seems.

Re: Slight delay when minimizing the browser with taskbar button on Windows
I'll just note that using the Taskbar button is different from Win+M.
Taskbar button does a Win+D, & Win+D is different from Win+M.
(Pressing Taskbar button a second time [or Win+D] will restore your windows, where Win+M will not.)
What's the difference between the "Win-D" and "Win-M" shortcuts?

That stylesheet also slows down GUI response in recent versions of SeaMonkey and Waterfox Classic. TBH, I only tried Firefox 52.9 for reference on a faster computer so far.
No idea if slowdown's just how it is or if it could be optimized. But CuteButtons seems to have an issue with switching icon style, that image with icons looks to be hanging in some cache.
