Long story short, according to the video's author's comment under the video, one of the annotations should activate on the time mark of 0:22, but doesn't since annotations are disabled on YouTube in general. I know there is an extension to enable them on Firefox, but is there such one for Pale Moon?
Also, not so critical but still: does anybody know a working way to disable autoplay for YouTube on Pale Moon? I tried one script, but it didn't work, so I deleted it and forgot its name.

You can do that from Youtube's own preferences, there's no need for any extension.

And how? I went to the settings tab, yet didn't find it there.

My bad, I thought I saw the option but it was only on the mobile app.

No scripts or extensions needed. Just click this button on any YouTube video:

Thanks, but I meant this: you know how you click on a video on youtube, you get to the page with the video and then it automatically starts playing? On firefox, I can disable this in the permissions section, so that when I click on a video, I get to the page with the video, but then I have to click on the video once again for it to start playing (this may be helpful when I don't want audio to play before the video starts moving). But I couldn't find this option in Pale Moon's permissions section. So, can you please help me out on this one?

Go to about:config and change media.autoplay.enabled and media.autoplay.allowscripted to false.

Did that, now videos are endlessly loading until I click on them to pause and then again to play. And then they don't play, so I have to press the right arrow to skip 5 seconds forward, and then video plays, so I have to press left arrow twice to go back in 10 seconds to get to the start of the video. This is not what is supposed to happen, I'm sure.

Surely not. :) I have these settings set to false since they existed (I hate autoplay) and nothing like that happens. My guess is that there's some kind of conflict with one of your add-ons. From those you mentioned in your OP, I only use Adblock Latitude, so I can't say which one might be the culprit (if any).

After changing those settings, you may have to force refresh youtube with Ctrl+F5 to make sure the lingering scripting isn't in a weird state.

Off-topic:
@ Moonchild

This might be slightly "off topic" for this topic thread so I will make this post as OT.

I visit YouTube everyday. I dislike autoplay too whether it be in YouTube or anything else which automatically starts playing videos. The coding below:

"Go to about:config and change media.autoplay.enabled and media.autoplay.allowscripted to false".

As a request, would you consider making the above coding as a default for Pale Moon in future versions?

I know it is easy going into "about:config", but I've got eight (8) hard drives loaded with three linux distros (Mint, MX Linux, Debian) and using linux Pale Moon in them so I always have to go into "about:config" and make these changes for Pale Moon along with other coding I use in "about:config" as well.

It would save a lot of time for people like me who also make other changes than those above in "about:config". Just a suggestion.

No.
The vast majority of people expect videos to play when they load. It's long-established behaviour in just about every browser and I really don't want to change that.

That didn't help. You know how when you turn off youtube autoplay in firefox, there is a youtube icon on the video instead of eternal loading? I want the same for Pale Moon.

I too have autoplay set to false in about:config, and for me it shows the (endlessly) loading animation when I open a video in YouTube, and it doesn’t play until I click once to pause and again to play, and then it plays.

I couldn’t find any for Pale Moon™/Basilisk; I think that’s because YouTube decided to discontinue video annotations around 2019, when Firefox was already using WebExtensions. But I found a userscript for YouTube¹ that restores them. It aims to recreate the YouTube layout of ~2013. It also increases the YouTube performance greatly. It’s called VORAPIS (or just V3):

https://vorapis.pages.dev/

To use in Pale Moon™/Basilisk you have to download de .zip file available in the site, extract the “Vorapis.user.js” and import it through Greasemonkey for Pale Moon².

Off-topic:
1. I’ve tested the following YouTube userscripts:
Youtube polymer engine fixes, which doesn’t fix for most part the ugliness, and I couldn’t notice any increase in performance.
YouTube Classic, idem.
7ktTube, which doesn’t fix for most part the ugliness, and I couldn’t notice any increase in performance (and videos are not playing?).
Cosmic Cat, which is not working anymore (dead).

2. Maybe Tampermonkey > Greasemoneky?

Pale Moon™/Basilisk
If you are going to take the time to use the ™ trademark symbol for Pale Moon, you should also do so for Basilisk, since the Basilisk name is trademarked too.

This is a Youtube issue, and should not rely on browser extensions. It looks like annotations have been disabled ON THIS SPECIFIC VIDEO. See comparison with another video, where the "Gear" is selected on both videos...

Weird… See if you can enable annotations for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-D1KVIuvjA

This is getting "curiouser and curiouser". If Youtube buffers at the start with "If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device," my "palemoon" profile (not logged in to Youtube) shows 5 items from the "gear" menu, namely "Stable Volume", "Annotations", "Subtitles", "Playback Speed", and "Quality". However, if the video starts smoothly, the "Annotations" item is missing :wtf: This is insane.

This is expected. It will default to showing the annotations option. If you're having trouble starting the video then it will not have received the metadata for that video yet which would include a per-video setting for annotations, so it makes perfect sense that the default is shown when you can't get this data, but being removed from the player once it knows it should not show it for this video.
