I have accidently deleted some of my bookmarks today and a few folders containing many bookmarks from the toolbar. They cannot be restored from Pale Moon - Bookmarks - Organise Bookmarks - Library - Import and Backup - Restore.
When I try to restore it says 'unable to process the back up file.'
How do I restore backup files ? Can yesterdays bookmarks be restored ? I can see them in the profile folder.

Maybe you can read them as .json and restore them manually.

I've managed to restore them into Basilisk but not Pale Moon from a jsonlz4 file saved to desktop. How could these be restored back into PM ?

So you do still have jsonlz4 files in /bookmarkbackups/ subdirectory within your profile?
Bookmarks >> Organize Bookmarks >> Import and Backup >> Restore >> Choose File
and drill into your bookmarkbackup subdirectory to choose the file. They should
be showing in Bookmarks >> Organize Bookmarks >> Import and Backup >> Restore
menu also. Or are you trying to use a file from somewhere else like your Basilisk
profile?

Yes they're still in the PM profile, 10 backup files. When I try to restore any of the backup files it fails 'unable to process...'
Even the file saved to desktop fails to restore in PM but restores normally into Basilisk. I'll post the troubleshooting info;

The only way so far is to copy bookmarks, one at a time, from Basilisk to PM which works but is too slow. There are hundreds of bookmarks, some in folders. I don't know how to copy and paste loads of bookmarks at a time.

This is not going well. Copy and Pasting single or multiple bookmarks from Basilisk to Pale Moon has stopped working. Not sure why. Any ideas ?

PM doesn't save the html backups that were exported to the desktop from Basilisk (Basilisk now contains the only complete set of bookmarks) . I can see the hard drive working hard but it fails to backup. PM won't even remember when bookmarks are copied & pasted one-at-a-time from Basilisk, after closing and re-starting PM all the copied bookmarks are gone.
I'm at a loss as to what has gone wrong and how to transfer all the bookmarks from Basilisk back to PM.

If that does not work, you may have hosed your Pale Moon Profile in some way
and need to create a clean new profile. You said you accidentally deleted

I did as you explained and once again the backup files fail to import. Yes it looks like I've corrupted PMs ability to save bookmarks.

Have just created a new profile in PM and so far so good. It imported and backed up the html file ok.
