Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
Operating system: WIndows10
Browser version: palemoon 33
32-bit or 64-bit browser?: 64 bits
Hi,
I intalled the portable Palemoon v33 and I've not yet import bookmarks, all add-ons from my old Firefox and I noticed that the memory ressources is about 630Mb.
When I will import bookmarks and more add-ons, I will reach 1gb.
To prevent such scenario, which version Palemoon versions, do you recommend it ?
Thank you !

Re: Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
That is definitely too much. For me version v33.0.0 x64 on Windows 8 uses 200MB displaying this website. Try resetting your profile and reduce the number of addons and find PaleMoon equivalents in the addon site.
Maybe the portable version loads more things into RAM for some reason
I use the AVX2 build but I don't think it matters here.Maybe the portable version loads more things into RAM for some reason

Re: Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
Why do you mean by resetting profile ? Create a new profile ?
Anyway, I only 9 add-ons installed among them, "classic add-ons archive".
I installed all others add-ons from "classic add-ons archive"
What's AVX2 ?

Re: Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
That does seem a bit much - if you've done nothing but install, add your extensions, & open to the default pages that load on startup.I intalled the portable Palemoon v33 and I've not yet import bookmarks, all add-ons from my old Firefox and I noticed that the memory resources is about 630Mb.
What extensions?
How do you know? When I will import bookmarks and more add-ons, I will reach 1gb.
I wouldn't think bookmarks would have any impact.
33, the most recent.which version Palemoon versions, do you recommend it ?
You need to look at what might be eating RAM.
(Presumably ? an extension?)
And once you're set up, visiting web pages is an entirely different issue.

@therube
With only Palemoon Start page : https://palemoon.start.me/start, I got 254MB Memory. So, I don't think so it's related to add-ons.
I can't add my addons screenshots to this message. when clicking on "add files" button nothing is happening. I would like to show you.
I made a test in disabling a few of addons, but it did'nt drastically low the memory.
My bookmarks file is about 1.1 Mb in size.
I will be great that Palemoon integrated a Task Manager to see the memory ressources of add-ons.

There's info in the "about: performance" page. Under 'Performance of Add-ons' click the "more" button next to each add on.albertfrome wrote: ↑2024-02-12, 18:07I will be great that Palemoon integrated a Task Manager to see the memory ressources of add-ons.

That is nothing out of the ordinary. With only Palemoon Start page : https://palemoon.start.me/start, I got 254MB Memory.
You're not going to see much less then that.
Even the 630 you mentioned, is not that much.
It would be much if you open the browser & nothing other then start.me is loaded.
It is not much once you start loading various web pages.

Re: Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
Minimum requirements for official builds:
A processor with at least SSE2 support (any CPU that is not museum-grade should be fine).
We only support 32-bit on Windows. All other operating systems require 64-bit.
At least 2 GB of free RAM.
While it may be possible to run it in limited fashion on less RAM, it isn't recommended as memory pressure will cause a lot of performance loss and may cause crashes.
A reasonable screen size (720p or higher).
Recommended:
A 64-bit processor and O.S.
4 GB of free RAM.
A dedicated GPU with stable driver support.
Don't expect a "lightweight" experience. the modern web simply needs a lot of ram.

Thank you.
"System usage" is it about memory ?
On any case, a % doesn"t mean anything. It will better to show in Mb

Re: Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
I'm on Windows10 - 64bits and 4Gb Ram memory and 2.2Gb of free RAM I have.
Maybe I can install Palemoon 32bits...
For now, used memory ressources is about 283MB with one tab and only this thread page

Re: Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
Ah, well what MC meant was that on Windows, we support both 32-bit and 64-bit builds, but other operating systems are 64-bit only. It definitely isn't true that we only support 32-bit builds on Windows... I mean, can you imagine being stuck with 4GB of RAM while trying to look at modern websites on the most popular OS in history, but then having a decent modern 64-bit experience on every other OS?
Like, maybe a policy like that would have made sense during the days of the DEC Alpha... however, we're long past the days where 64-bit was an exotic choice for Windows but perfectly fine for Unix.
In case it wasn't clear, though, we do in fact support 64-bit builds of Pale Moon on Windows (and every other platform). It's just that Windows happens to be the only platform where we also support 32-bit builds in addition to 64-bit builds... 32-bit builds of Pale Moon for any other operating system are unsupported, to be used and compiled at your own risk.
64-bit is recommended on all platforms, 32-bit Windows is mostly for plugin support and older Atoms at this point.

With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

Re: Palemoon version with less memory ressources ?
A newly installed Pale Moon with eMatrix and Pure URL extensions opens on GNU/Linux with 209mb memory used for me. Seems pretty amazingly lightweight to me compared to every other capable browser.
