Pretty sure it is just the default start page... Preferences -> General -> Home Page
Set it to something else that you would prefer.

Click on the blue AppMenu, and go to Preferences->Preferences. Make sure you have the General tab selected in the dialog box that comes up.
Type a different URL into the Home Page field, which defaults to palemoon.start.me. You could change it to, for instance:
https://duckduckgo.com/?t=palemoon
Which would simply give you a search engine as your default home page. That would basically mean you don't see start.me at all.
"The Athenians, however, represent the unity of these opposites; in them, mind or spirit has emerged from the Theban subjectivity without losing itself in the Spartan objectivity of ethical life. With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

It is simply the default start page, nothing else.
Change the start page to anything else and it is gone.

or if you prefer a simple start page with just a search bar that loads in an instant (internal to the browser) instead of entering a URL just clear the Home Page field and press OK

Some browser themes change that page to fit with their aesthetic, but only if you have the Home Styler extension.

Ok, Thanks, what I'd like is the beautiful landscape that is behind the start.me page. without the start.me.
and a search bar is optional.
I deleted the home page link and "When pale moon starts" I have it set to "show my home page" I have a plain-ish page with a moon and a search bar.
is there a way to do that, or is it best to do an add on extension type thing.

You can make an image your homepage. Under Homepage in the startup options, just put the path to the image you want.

Thank you,
yes, so that would be a path to C: drive to the photo ? i can work with that.
when i had pale moon a few years ago, it would bring up a nice moon on the horizon photo as the start page? that is sort of what i was shooting for. but it no longer has that photo as part of the "install"
Ok, i downloaded some moon photos. is there an add on/extension that will play them one after the other when the browser is open?

View the source code of your start.me page. Look among the first few meta tags and find a line similar to this
Code: Select all
<meta content="https://static.start.me/c_scale,q_auto/fqm9l4ndwaeoviufi80x" name="thumbnail">
Open the string in the content attribute. Now if I was going to use that image I would save it locally, and use that copy.

You can edit the start.me page and remove any of the widgets of your choice (all of them if you want) leaving you with just theme (in this case the "beautiful landscape" that you like presumably - or select any other of the many background landscapes to choose from). I would leave some of the more helpful widgets you might sometimes use or select some of the many widgets available to use at you disposal with start.me. Fact of the matter is, the start.me start-page is the best their is in the industry (with an incredible number of options available) - check it out more. Such as, you could have a weather widget, News feed widget of your choice, interactive Calendar widget of your choice, a widget that holds all of your email accounts, widgets to use for "Social" sites or "Shopping" sites each with their respective icon images to click on.
example of a small part of my page.png
We both like the "cartoon", my wife likes the "shopping".
