Is this what happens when you try to download?

Generally, when you have a problem it is helpful to supply more than a terse it doesn't work statement.
Laptop 1: Windows 10 64-bit, i7 @ 2.80GHz, 16GB, NVIDIA GeForce MX450.
Laptop 2: Windows 10 32-bit, Atom Z3735F @ 1.33GHz, 2GB, Intel HD Graphics.

Standard download is not possible on mega.nz, period. They don't offer standard downloads by design, only encrypted blob downloads.

Kind of surprised they allow it on Chrome...?

Yes suzyne, & google's always tried to push ppl in consuming their products, add to that the webmasters that only swear by chrome moonchild..
maybe the meganz staff ' softly & gradually trying to push random users to become customers.. I even tried adding general.useragent.override.mega.nz
as Chrome in about:config, and it didn't work
Always using latest pm version in x64, win8.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work in Firefox either. They rely on a Chromium-only feature for this that involves creating a huge buffer and decrypting data on the fly, possibly one usually used for streaming DRM content. That's kind of ironic that a DRM feature of Chrome is being used this way, if so.
"The Athenians, however, represent the unity of these opposites; in them, mind or spirit has emerged from the Theban subjectivity without losing itself in the Spartan objectivity of ethical life. With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

I tried an for me it work for smal files: I downloaded a 75 and a 129MB file without problems. Only for very large files don't work because of the insufficient buffer: the file you link is 2,67 GB.

Normally, I would suggest to install their desktop MEGAsync program for such large files. However, I tried downloading this and get the "You don't have the MEGA Desktop App yet" prompt, even though I have it.

If someone has their tested 4.11 version installed, they may give this another try. I've very recently installed MEGAsync and got the yet unlisted 4.12 version.

Not 100% sure about this, but it seems they've renamed it from MEGAsync to MEGA in this new v.4.12. I wouldn't be surprised if their website now failed to recognise their own program.

Can't stand installing various background syncers. Instead, use *one* paid (GoodSync) or opensource (Duplicati) backupper / synchronizer that can talk to alllll the backends.

Maybe next time people want to send super-large files they would consider Tixati and using a torrent/magnet link, instead of mega.

Off-topic:
Wow, JDownloader 2 still exists - good to hear! Had this been a Mozilla application, it'd be at version 200 already.
