Re: Protonmail Login Fail w/V 32.4.0
I would suspect that the weaknesses with the old RSA implementation on Proton Mail would be why they now offer a newer type of cryptography key, although I'm definitely not a cryptography expert or a browser developer. That would fit with the ever-evolving nature of technology, security threats, and good ole human nature - where sometimes we do our best, but we still get things wrong.
I, too, appreciate all the work that the Pale Moon Team is doing and I will wait patiently on Pale Moon 32.3.1 until a solution is found.

Re: Protonmail Login Fail w/V 32.4.0
I don't understand the technical details of the discussions here, but is it surprising or weird that Proton Mail works for some of us in 32.4.0?

Re: Protonmail Login Fail w/V 32.4.0
Basically if you signed up for a Protonmail account several years ago then Protonmail was using one webmail encryption method that they configured poorly that is causing Protonmail's servers to be unable to show those encrypted webmail messages on Pale Moon 32.4.0. If you signed up for a Protonmail account more recently then you are using a newer webmail encryption method for which Pale Moon 32.4.0 and Protonmail's servers sync up correctly on the decryption. It might be possible for the Pale Moon devs to create a fix for the older Protonmail encryption for Pale Moon 32.4.0 and beyond, but it involves working their way through some older and poorly documented Firefox bug fixes.
That's my understanding. So you simply signed up for Protonmail more recently and got the better webmail encryption method.

Yes, that is my situation, less than 6 months.andyprough wrote: ↑2023-09-12, 22:08If you signed up for a Protonmail account more recently then you are using a newer webmail encryption method for which Pale Moon 32.4.0 and Protonmail's servers sync up correctly
I know nothing about what Proton are like at responding in such as situation, but it sounds like quite a mess, so best wishes to the Pale Moon team in resolving this!

I've had good communication with them in the past, they've been very responsive to requests. If anyone needs me to contact someone at Proton, let me know.

It's more than that. We can't login. And that affects the other services they offer.andyprough wrote: ↑2023-09-12, 22:08[...] one webmail encryption method that they configured poorly that is causing Protonmail's servers to be unable to show those encrypted webmail messages on Pale Moon 32.4.0.

Recently (15:56 2023-09-13), Protnmail's GUI design was updated, could this indicate that the problem is solved?

I have had a ProtomMail account for many years. I can get past the UID button and PW button but die on the Mailbox PW button on the page. Some of yon may not have that last step to go thru.suzyne wrote: ↑

IMO, ProtonMail as an entity thinks they are quite above most everyone else, are quite unresponsive to requests I and other have made in the past, always seem to want to sell you something, most always ready to blame others for problems in their code. I rarely use them anymore. Since PM 32.4.0 I can access ProtonMail thru LibreWolf.
Win 8.1 x64 or x32, Win 7 SP1 x64. Nothing hanging on Pale Moon except uBO and P M Commander.

If you have a better way than submitting a support ticket, please have them contact me, I've been waiting for a response for a week now.andyprough wrote: ↑2023-09-13, 00:47I've had good communication with them in the past, they've been very responsive to requests. Email me the info in the support ticket to my screen name at protonmail. I'll send them an email and see if I can get someone to contact you. Be sure and give me the contact info you want them to use.

Is the GUI update what the Upgrade button will do? Or is that just for upgrading to paid version?

"Is the GUI update what the Upgrade button will do? Or is that just for upgrading to paid version?"
The Upgrade button will only take you to a page that shows two different paid versions just for you or as you wrote:
"that just for upgrading to paid version"
I have a free account that has not moved to a paid account, what I meant was that the GUI changed from scrolling through the emails, the arrows were horizontal but now are vertical and moved to be closer to the other icons (As your picture shows).

Re: Protonmail Login Fail w/V 32.4.0
Since I kicked off this thread a while back, I'll try to wrap it up. I got suggestions on how to fix it that were on the right track, but not specific enough for my old brain. I was told to go to Protonmail > Settings > Encryption and keys. There, I was supposed to change the keys to the latest "ECC (Curve25519)" version. The problem was that there are two sets of keys. The first is "Email encryption keys" which I changed. That did not fix my problem, but it has created a NEW nightmare that I have yet to figure out. to no avail.
When I went back later, I found that by scrolling down, there are also "Account keys" on that page. Since I was having trouble logging into my 'account' it makes sense that the 'account' key would be the one to change. By changing it to the newer ECC (Curve25519) version, the login problem was solved for me. I'm now able to login to Proton Mail using the latest version of Pale Moon! It's pretty simple, really. Just be sure NOT to change BOTH types of keys. ONLY change the Account Keys... and be sure the new key shows as Default.
Now I am able to login to Protonmail, but every email I try to open gives me a "Encryption Error" message and a string of code instead of the message. This is why I hate mucking around in stuff I know nothing about!

Re: Protonmail Login Fail w/V 32.4.0
okay, but I can't log in with Pale Moon on Protonmail and all the other browsers have NO problems with protonmail.
Sure I can take any of these browsers Brave, SeaMonkey, Opera, FireFox & WaterFox and make the changes you suggest, but it's kind of funny that it's only Pale Moon that has problems with Protonmail. Tradera, Youtube and OKI printer problems.
Could it be that the Pale Moon developers are in a bit of a hurry so that all the small errors are not found before an update goes out to the users?

Re: Protonmail Login Fail w/V 32.4.0
UPDATE: DO NOT CHANGE YOUR "EMAIL ENCRYPTION KEYS"! ONLY CHANGE the ACCOUNT KEY! Make the Protonmail Encryption Key changes on one of your trouble-free browsers. After that, try logging in on Pale Moon. It worked for me... but you might have to restart Pale Moon before it works. Also, be sure you have updated to the latest version of Pale Moon (32.4.0.1), which just came out.

Re: Protonmail Login Fail w/V 32.4.0
But you changed the account keys after changing the encryption keys. How do we know that changing only the account keys will work? I'm not changing any keys until someone else confirms it doesn't mess anything up.

Doesn't it give you the option to go back to the older key?
