Cannon access some forum with Palemoon

Unread post by atztek » 2023-01-20, 08:53

Operating system: Win10
Browser version: 31.4.2
32-bit or 64-bit browser?: 64 bit
Problem URL:
Browser theme (if not default): Palemoon
Installed add-ons: no
Installed plugins: (about:plugins): no

If possible, please include the output of help->troubleshooting information (as text):
**PASTE troubleshooting information here**
Yesterday I tried to access some web forum using the portable Palemoon browser and it gave me an error - "login or password is incorrect". This is impossible, using the same login and password, I can access the forum without any problems using firefox and opera browsers. The problem occurs only with Palemoon. Please tell me what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance!

We cannot possibly do that unless you provide the URL(s) of the forum(s) that you are having problems with.

Sigh. Is there any specific reason why the URL is a secret? I do not have time at the moment to be your personal troubleshooter, nor am I inclined to register for any forum when I don't specifically need to. If you post the URL publicly here you will get help from more people (many of whom are more knowledgeable than me) faster than I could render it.

Also:
If possible, please include the output of help->troubleshooting information (as text):
Counting the time you ignored that in the posting template, this is the third request for that information.

Also: have you tried accessing that forum with a new and completely clean Pale Moon profile?

Finally:
Please try and include any relevant output from the Toolkit Error Console or the Developer Tools Web Console using the following procedure:
1. Clear any current output
2. Navigate or refresh the page in question
3. Copy and paste Errors or seemingly relevant Warnings into a single [ code ] block.

Can you forward this issue to developers?
(I'm not familiar with this forum, don't know how to submit such request)
I think they will be interested to research the problem.
In the meantime, I will make the other browser the default browser.
If possible, please include the output of help->troubleshooting information (as text):
Have no idea what exactly I need to do.
Developers can reproduce the problem in a few minutes.
Also: have you tried accessing that forum with a new and completely clean Pale Moon profile?
Yes, I have several (new) installations of Palemoon, each with the same problem.

Do you have non-English characters in username and/or password?

If we exclude your mistake when entering a name/password, then this is some kind of problem very specific for a particular forum...

@atztek: What forum is it, and why exactly do you want it to remain secret? I believe that the public has a right to know what forum it is. You would definitely get more help if you made the link public.

I'm gonna take a long shot here and guess that you're using a password manager that uses an addon that works with chromy browsers and not Pale Moon, and that could be why a login process works on another browser but not on this one. :?:  :?:

edit: or maybe those specific forums use some kind of horribly j/s bloated login procedure..

We'll need to know the forum URL or we can only make wild and probably incorrect guesses and no solutions. or at the very least specific console errors if any (and if none then we need the URL).
Not sure why you're being so secretive about the forum's existence.
