How to revert from the update to the previous older version?

Unread post by Bigo2 » 2023-01-13, 23:11

Hi, I'm not sure if this wasn't already discussed...
I'm using the 29.4.4 64 bit version. I haven't updated because I'm afraid that I would lose my add-ons, some of which are quite older but they still work OK with the above mentioned version I'm still using.
My question is: If I update to the latest version, and I'm not happy with it, is it possible to revert back to the version I'm currently using?
How to do it?
Thank you very much for your help.
Regards

Linux or Windows ?

Sorry I haven't realized this important detail - I'm running the Windows 10.

System agnostic and safest method: backup your profile before update.

1. Backup (make a copy) of your entire profile.
2. Update PM to the new version.
3. If you want to go back, uninstall the new version and delete the profile (not your backup).
4. Install your older version and replace the new profile with your backup.

Re: Backup (make a copy) of your entire profile... you might like to use Moonchild's 'Pale Moon profile backup tool' to save a copy of your current profile: https://www.palemoon.org/backuptool.shtml

LAR Grizzly’s instructions are sound, but I should supplement them. Many other users have been silent on the following: one should close Pale Moon and confirm the process has ended (using the Task Manager) before backing up a Pale Moon profile. Backups made while Pale Moon is still running can become corrupt and hence useless for restoring one’s browser. Version 29·4·4 is available for Windows in 32- and 64-bit versions for Windows (10). Language packs for v29·4·x are available.
